General Produce Celebrates 75th Anniversary

General Produce
Friends gathered in September to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of General Produce, located in The River District on North B Street.  This Sacramento business, now led by the third generation of the Chan Family, shares a sense of pride in keeping the family tradition going with a fleet of 70 trucks and over 230 employees.  Their commitment to treating customers, vendors and employees with respect and personal attention dates back to the company's founding in 1933.

Schetter Electric hosted friends, colleagues and clients on October 9 to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.  The company, founded in 1958 by Howard Schetter and now headed by his son, Frank Schetter, moved to their home in The River District in 1980.  In 2007 they expanded the Bannon St. facility to accommodate the company's growth.  One of Sacramento's largest and most experienced electrical contractors, Schetter Electric's team performs all aspects of work in the electrical industry with a prevailing attitude that no job is to small, too big or too difficult.
Robert T. Matsui Waterfront Park and Water Intake Facility

Matsui
Rep. Doris Matsui joined Mayor Heather Fargo on October 20 at the Sacramento River Water Intake Facility to dedicate the Facility and adjacent 6.5 acre park and name it in honor of the late Congressman Robert T. Matsui.  Mayor Fargo commented, "It is a great honor to recognize the many contributions of Sacramento's late Congressman, Robert T. Matsui.  As our Representative in Washington D.C., Bob's dedication and hard work provided federal resources to help increase flood protection in addition to many other necessary projects and programs for our residents.  All of his work in Washington on our behalf helped make Sacramento a truly great City."

The six-acre park Robert T. Matsui Park and Water Intake Facility are located on one of the most beautiful stretches along the Sacramento River.  The Park is a choice destination for pedestrians, bicyclists and sightseers.  The Water Intake Facility is designed to look like a dragonfly floating on the water and features public art and a fountain that greets visitors in its plaza.
