 Memorial Day Dive on May 30, 2010 Sunday from 8am-12pm Shake-A-Leg Miami will sponsor the Dive Buddy Appreciation Day for people with disabilities. This event is for Dive Buddies to come together enjoy a refresher dive and mingle with those new Dive Buddies in our organization. Spend the morning diving on Shake-A-Leg Miami's Dive Corinthian' refitted to accommodate our dive activities; and dive Neptune Society Memorial Reef for a new adventure!
DiveHeart Trained Instructors volunteered their efforts for Diver Brock Wilson during his SCUBA Certification Course. Thanks to the assistance of Buddy Divers Doug Barkley, Andre Harris, and others; for their dedication to our local community more divers with disabilities are enjoying the tranquility of the "Aquatic World."
April 16, 2010 interest groups with VA Miami will be met in support of activities for our military wounded! Thanks to Dr. Angel Colon-Molero, MD leading the volunteers and interest groups to successful committments. The meeting was a success allowing 30 divers to be trained via support of various interest groups. ...You too can get involved in the local area and support or volunteer to dive with active buddy divers with disabilities "Making Posabilities For Disabilities" .
June 05, 2010 will bring our newest DiveHeart member Chad Chernet into the spot-light as his efforts have brought the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in coordination with our DiveHeart vision.
Ambassadors of the "Aquatic World"... Divers YES that is YOU! Come and enjoy a therapeutic dive onto the Coral Reef Restoration Foundation sight, and take part in rebuilding or aquatic ecosystem starting with the habitat they live in. Our restoration today will provide a scenic world to dive in tomorrow. The Florida Keys is the backdrop for the most recent DMW Diveheart Military Wounded and Diveheart Disabled Divers trips for Veterans and Civilians with disabilities to gain the opportunity to experience and enjoy beautiful Key Largo underwater. DMW volunteers from Illinois and Florida came together to bring Veterans with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries), Amputee, Blindness, Quadriplegia, Tourettes, Ceberal Palsy, and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) to the beautiful reefs beneath the waves. Lionfish (Pterois Volitans) have been documented along the entire United States East Coast from Florida through Massachusetts, East to Bermuda and South throughout the Bahamas and in other Caribbean Islands such as Turks and Caicos and Cuba. The expansion has been extremely rapid and exponential in scope. We have seen some Lionfish ha e been located on the Captain Dan and Sea Emperor, also some divers have seen them off Boca Artificial Reef.
