Q&A
Is a prescription required to purchase a CPAP and/or mask online?
Yes! So often our customers are surprised when we ask for a prescription before filling their online orders. A prescription is required to purchase these items anywhere, but apparently there are several online companies out there who do not enforce this law set by the FDA.
We know that it is an inconvenience to have to obtain a prescription to buy something that we cannot imagine buying unless we need it, but such is the law at this time.
Be careful buying from a company that does not ask for a prescription. At EZ CPAP we recently had to set a CPAP pressure for a patient who bought his machine online. The company he purchased it from did not ask for his prescription and therefore sent him the machine without the correct pressure setting. He was unable to tolerate the default pressure it was set at and had to wait until he could get a prescription to bring it to us to set it.
Companies that do not follow the law are unlikely to provide proper support overall when you need help with your equipment.

Just a thought...
Does your insurance policy have a high deductible or co-pay, or does your current CPAP provider limit your product choices based on your insurance reimbursement? Consider purchasing your CPAP supplies and submitting the bill to your insurance yourself. CPAP providers who are not contracted with insurance companies are able to offer lower prices. You pay less and you can still apply what you did pay to your deductible! And, you will get the products you want -- the products that work for you.
