Q&A What do I do if I get a cold and cannot breathe through my nose?
For many people the CPAP heated humidifier helps. You can try turning up the heat setting to increase the amount of humidity you are receiving. However, if the room is too cool, turning the humidifier heat up could cause "rain-out", or condensation that gets into your mask.
Another option is to have a full face mask on hand to use when you have nasal congestion. Then you will be able to breathe through your mouth and still benefit from CPAP therapy. This is very important if you have moderate to severe sleep apnea. Be sure to also increase the humidifier setting to avoid drying out your mouth.

Just a thought...
Does your insurance policy have a high deductible or co-pay, or does your current CPAP provider limit your product choices based on your insurance reimbursement? Consider purchasing your CPAP supplies and submitting the bill to your insurance yourself. CPAP providers who are not contracted with insurance companies are able to offer lower prices, which in turn will lower the amount your insurance company will apply to your deductible/co-pay. And, you will get the products you want--the products that work for you.
