Q&A

Sometimes I wake up in the morning feeling full or bloated, or I belch when using my CPAP.  Is this normal?

Feeling bloated or belching when using CPAP is not normal, but it is common.  In most cases it probably indicates that the pressure is set too high and you are swallowing some of the air. Let your doctor know that this is happening and find out if it is safe to lower your pressure.

Tip of the Month:  Managing Facial Irritation

Do you have nasal irritation from wearing nasal pillows, or is the skin on your face sensitive and irritated by your mask cushion?  If your answer to these questions is yes, you have probably already tried to relieve the irritation with various creams and/or Vaseline.  Unfortunately, using any petroleum-based product with the mask can cause breakdown of the silicone or plastic and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the seal.  With a less effective seal, you will more likely need to replace the pillows and/or cushions more frequently.

The solution?  Find a product that is not petroleum-based.  There are a couple of creams available online which are made for use with CPAP masks and oxygen cannulas, including RoEzIt, which you can read more about below in our Feature Product section or by following this link.

RoEzIt Petroleum-Free Skin Emollient

RoEzIt RoEzIt Petroleum-Free Skin Emollient contains aloe vera, emu oil, and vitamins A & E to soothe and moisturize skin on the face that comes in contact with a CPAP mask.  The cream can also be used inside the nostrils for those who use a pillows style mask to provide relief from nasal irritation as well as a lubricating barrier between skin and mask materials. It is important to use a product that is free of petroleum to prevent the early wear of CPAP mask materials and maintain a good seal between skin and the mask for proper therapy.
