backtotopA MESSAGE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR

I am so proud of each and every one of our students and their progress in this school year.  At our Open House this week, I saw all of our students' hard work and the seeds of knowledge their teachers have provided them.  It was so rewarding to celebrate our students and teachers, and the learning happening here at GSLS.  Thank you for allowing us to guide your children in their early educational lives.  It is a responsibility that we do not take lightly.  Our outstanding teachers and programs are a blessing, and they are made stronger with the gifts of your support, your generosity, and your children.  Thank you for celebrating, what we have all created... Together.

NOTICES
**  Please remember to send your students with their OWN  plate and a fork or spoon for their hot lunch.  They are going through a lot of paper plates and it is quite wasteful.

** Information about the summer program for 2's thru entering 3rd graders can be found at "Space Camp".

**  The third grade musical, The Emperor's New Clothes date is being changed to give the class more time to prepare for this fabulous production.

PHOTOS! PHOTOS! PHOTOS!
Deadline March 2nd

Yes, everyone, it is yearbook time of year! We know you have been busy taking pictures documenting your child's school year. Now it is time to mobilize and send your favorite pictures to the photo coordinator for your class. It is so important that we get pictures from EVERYONE! You take the best pictures of your child, and we want the best pictures in our yearbook. Please peruse your photo library from the entire year, pick out the best pictures, and email your high resolution jpegs to your photo coordinator. If you have a lot of photos, then please save to a disc.

We want a BIG PUSH of pictures in the next 2 weeks. Then we can get them all up online, and determine where we are short. Last year the yearbook coordinators did a lot of running around campus at the last minute trying to be sure we had everything and everyone captured. We want to get ahead of it this year.

Here are some of the pictures we need:

  • Events: First day school, Book Fair, Harvest Spectacular, Halloween, Talent Show, Thanksgiving Feast, Grandparents Day, Christmas Chapel, Mare Hat Parade
  • General: Classroom, PE, gardening, playground, spirit days, extended care, field trips, class parties, student council, children's choir, band practice, chapel
  • Staff: Staff with children, teachers with aides, enrichment, playground, office, church staff, EVERYONE!

  •  Rain date Wednesday March 14th at 11:30.

  • We were going to do more colors, but looking at old photos, the navy/white really looks fantastic.
    • Navy or white solid color tops/dresses/sweaters; any uniform bottoms.
  • For pre-school - if possible please have your child dressed in one of those solid colored shirts.
  • Note: we will have extra shirts on hand for all ages, in case someone forgets.
Volunteers? We will need lots of help with this major production
  • One volunteer per grade level to assist teachers getting the kids to the playground.
  • Approximately 12 volunteers to drive the Middle School students to the main campus and back (elementary school approved drivers are welcome also to participate).
  • Two volunteers in the parking lot to help direct each group to their appropriate spot.
  • Two volunteers to move 70 chairs to the parking lot at 10:30 am.
  • Volunteers contact Joanne Covert (jecsfo@aol.com)
Details?
  • Note that a portion of the parking lot will be blocked off the morning of the photo (prior to drop off).  We will open it back up immediately after we are done.
  • Teachers, I know this might sound silly, but could you please prep the kids in advance on ways they can make this the best picture ever:
    • face forward; hands in lap or at sides; smiles; no bunny ear hands behind peoples heads; listen to the photographer; for the kids sitting on the ground (pre-school) criss cross legs.
