Several of our students recently received special recognition.

* The first award was given to Natalie Whooley, who was nominated and was chosen to be Marin County Office of Education "Student of the Week". Natalie is a hardworking 8th grader who is consistently on our school Honor Roll. She is also very active in CYO and Club Volleyball. Natalie will be featured in the Marin I.J.

* Dante Omoomy was nominated along with five other 6th grade students to join with other elected 6th graders in Washington D.C. for Junior National Young Leaders Conference. The Jr. NYLC offers high achieving middle school students an opportunity to learn about leadership by studying leaders of the past, focusing on social advocacy and how to make a positive impact in their homes and communities.

* We are proud to announce that GSLS had two participants compete in the Marin County Spelling Bee in the Novato region this week.  Both Jack Anderson and Sophia Lubey did very well with Sophia Lubey moving on to the next level.  Way to go Jack and Sophia!

Attention All Parents, please send a note!

If you know in advance that your child will be picked up early from school for any reason or will be carpooling with another parent/student, please send a written note with your child and have them give it directly to their teacher. This allows the teachers to plan in advance.

Scrip Fundraising Results ~ Wow!Event Name

Thanks to everyone for their participation in our escrip fundraising program. September was the biggest month we have EVER had (we have records going back 3 years)!
In September we earned $2128 from Safeway and our other escrip partners!

Year to date we have earned $10,140. Wow!

This is in part due to the yearly 10% Safeway Back to School program - when Safeway donates 10% (instead of the usual 1%) on MANY items throughout the store.
In September we offerered an incentive to encourage participation in the 10% back to school program.  The person with the highest contribution in September wins a $50 Safeway Gift card.  Thanks so much to the Byers Family, and congratulations on winning the gift card.

What is escrip? Every time you shop at Safeway (and other participating merchants), and your club card is registered for GSLS, then Safeway donates to our school (this registration is part of the yearly enrollment process).  This is FREE money to the school at NO COST to you.  Simply shop as you usually do.

Welcome and thanks to Adriana Rios, who has volunteered to be scrip co-captain.

Thanks again for your participation in escrip ~ it really makes a difference.

Your scrip team,
Joanne Covert and Adriana Rios
