News from the School Garden

The school garden harvested a big crop of corn and potatoes this fall.  Check with your students to see if they tried the corn on the cob, roasted potatos (cooked by the first grade garden class), and potato leek soup, in the past two weeks.  It was delicious and there is something about growing it yourself!

Help us Earn $$ for Our School with Scrip and Escrip

Here's How:

1) Register your Safeway Card (friends & relatives too!)

·    Scrip team will be in the Fellowship Hall before & after Sunday services on 11/14

·    Or email your Safeway card number (not phone number) to Nicole Kropelnicki at nmkropelnicki@yahoo.com

·    If you have friends or relatives who shop at Safeway (or Von's, Dominick's, Pavilions and more), get their card number too!

·    No one ever sees the purchases, and this is FREE money to the school.  It does not affect your club card discount, just shop like you usually do!

2) Buy our Gift Cards

·    We sell gift cards (just like the ones you buy at the store or Safeway).  No extra fees -  just pay the face value of the card.

·    Over 60 to choose from: Macy's, Starbucks, Chevy's, Peet's and so many more!

·    How to buy cards:

o    In the Fellowship Hall (every Sunday between now and Christmas - except 11/21)

o    Every Wednesday/Thursday morning from 8:20 to 9:10

o    Email Paula Knight at peapknight@yahoo.com

3)  Win!

·    This week and next week (11/7 and 11/14) anyone who registers their Safeway card or purchases a gift card will be entered into a raffle for a $25 American Express gift card.

·    One winner each week!

Scrip Fun Facts

A simple change in shopping habits makes a big difference.

·         By purchasing my toddlers diapers at Safeway instead of somewhere else, I am earning $55 for GS in a year.

·         If 50 families made a similar change (what do you buy somewhere else that you could buy at Safeway?) that would be $2,750 in money for our school!

Are you a coffee drinker? Do you stop at Starbucks several days a week? Consider this possible scenario

·         If a person drinks Starbucks/Peet's coffee an average of 3 times a week (large latte)

·         They pay for those lattes using gift cards they purchased from GSLS, and that purchase earns GSLS $50 a year

·         If 100 people in the entire GS church and school population did the same, this would be $5000 to GS. And we know there are at least 100 of us out there!  How about 200 people, then $10,000!

·         All for just taking the time to get your gift card from us.

·         Imagine the amazing things we could do with that money!

Tru Scan Fingerprint Services

We appreciated the opportunity to participate in your annual Harvest Festival, what a very fun event. My wife Lynda and I really enjoyed our time there.   As you know we provided CHILD IDENTIFICATION CD's to the parents for $5.00 each.  These CD's contain fingerprints and photos as well as personal history data and contact information of the child and the parents.  The proceeds of those CD's purchased went to the Good Shepherd Lutheran School Parents Association.  We raised over $90.00 on Saturday, thanks to those who were able to participate.  We would like to extend the offer to those families who were not able to participate by offering the service at our office.  So we will collect $5.00 per CD for the Parents Association until the end of the 2010/2011 school year.  The money collected will be then provided to the PA to use for any of the great programs they assist in.  Just bring your school age child(ren) to our offices at 1620 Grant Ave. # 3 in Novato anytime Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.  We would love to see you and further support the Parents Association.

Thanks again,

Tony and Lynda Pinochi
