2008 d'Arenberg The Wild Pixie
I had the great fortune of visiting many superb wineries this past summer in Australia. In my visit to d'Arenberg, the Wild Pixie stood out as one of the best wines in their diverse portfolio. d'Arenberg is the first winery in McLaren Vale to do a blend of Shiraz and Roussanne, and the results are brilliant. The wine is full bodied, soft and silky. There is an abundance of sweet black fruit, licorice, flowers, and mocha in the nose and on the palate. This wine is an absolute pleasure to drink and it represents great value for the money.
Grape Varieties: 95% Shiraz, 5% Roussanne
Robert Parker Score: 90+ pts.
Serve With: Beef, ribs, lamb, chedder cheese
