News from St. Luke's Church

St. Luke's 10th Annual Loop the Lake Bicycle Ride for Charity, Saturday, July 14th

begins in Lakewood with registration at 8:30 am

bike rideThis is an event that every member of St. Luke's can participate in. If you have never ridden the lake before but are interested in trying, now is your chance! Pick a loop that fits you and enjoy. Try the smaller loop of the lower half of the lake with a ferry crossing. Or even catch riders as they return through Celoron and finish the ride with them into Lakewood. We live in such a beautiful area and there is no better way to see the landscape than on a bike!

Registration is at 8:30 am and the ride begins at 9:00 am.

The ride will begin and end at 68 E Terrace Ave, Lakewood NY.

There will be rest stops and refreshments along the ride, and riders will be served a free lunch after the ride. There is no cost to the ride, but riders are asked to get sponsors. There is no minimum to ride. Money and forms can be turned in before the ride (preferred), or sent in no later than July 21.

We are looking for volunteers to help with registration, refreshments, road support and the lunch after the ride. Another way you can get involved is by sponsoring a rider. Please consider participating in "Loop the Lake" in some way.

This is a recreational ride around Chautauqua Lake to benefit the Episcopal Partnership for Mission and Outreach (formerly known as ECS).  This is the charitable arm of the Diocese of Western New York and provides assistance to the most vulnerable children and adults in Western New York through eighteen member agencies, including Chautauqua Rural Ministries in Dunkirk.

The jokes and Tests of Faith fly fast and furious as Neil Simon spins a contemporary morality tale like no other in this hilarious comedy.

Becoming a New Creation

 Discovering/Rediscovering

the Presence of God in your life.

Eight single rooms and two doubles have been reserved at Holy Cross Monastery for retreatants of  St. Luke's Church, September 20-23, 2012.  All meals are included as well as bedding and towels.

The cost is $250 per person with a deposit of $100 due by July 15th

At Holy Cross, you enter into a time of prayer and reflection, renewal and re-creation.  The time you spend there can help you deepen your sense of communion with God, nature and with others.  Our retreat will be led by one of the Holy Cross Fathers, and there will be plenty of time for personal reflection.

For more information, pick up a Retreat brochure in the church, or call the church office, 483-6405, or email Fr. Eric
