A Time to Connect at St. Luke's  -- Coffee Hour

Coffee hour is a wonderful way to meet your fellow parishioners. We gather together downstairs in the undercroft every Sunday, after the 10 am worship service. There we can engage in conversation, enjoy a hot cup of coffee, regular or decaffeinated, and tea. Lemonade and iced tea are also available during the summer months. Our always pleasant hosts welcome us, pour coffee and usually provide a treat for all of us to savor.

Coming from a church that did not have a "coffee hour,"  I truly look forward to going downstairs, having a cup of coffee and being able to chat with my fellow parishioners. I have made some wonderful friends from attending coffee hour! Even my father, who attended our Mother's Day brunch last weekend, struck up a conversation with the people who were sitting across from us at brunch. They said that they were "summer people" and come to find out, the gentleman enjoys fishing. Being an avid fisherman himself, my Dad told him about some great places to fish and also gave him the name of a man who does charter boat tours.  He also said he would love to take him with him sometime this summer when he gets together with another friend of his. That would not have happened without coffee hour/brunch!

Cookies and Juice is the children's version of coffee hour. Provided for the children after worship are cookies (homemade or store bought) and juice. This is their time to interact with each other. Chatting, laughing and getting to know each other is encouraged.

We would love to have you join us, this is one of the easiest ways to get to know your fellow parishioners and have them get to know you!

  The mission of the

United Thank Offering is to

expand the circle of thankful people ...

UTOMake MAY UTO Month!  Are you thankful for something this week, that hadn't happened last week? What might you thank God for?

Near the chancel steps in church (and on the table at the back of the chapel), you'll find a large blue UTO box - hungry to hear about your blessings. As you come forward to receive Jesus' Body and Blood, put a donation into the box and whisper your prayer of thanksgiving. For the kids, our "Feed my Lambs" station is back.

We have so much to be thankful for in our lives. Show a sign of your gratitude by feeding the Blue Box or the children's Sheep. Checks can be made out to St. Luke's and noted "UTO."  Thank you!

ADULT FORUM - Sundays 9 am - stage area

Sunday, June 3 will be the final Adult Forum for this program year. We will have an "Open Forum" to discuss what worked this past year, what didn't, and what do we want to see/do going forward. Please join us as we value (and would like to have!) your input.

An Open Invitaiton; An Open Process

The Vestry of St. Luke's is issuing an open invitation to all members of the church to attend their next meeting on Monday, June 11 at 7 pm in theUndercroft. This special open meeting will be dedicated to a discussion of the church budget. The members of the vestry realize that when the budget is presented each year at the annual meeting, there really isn't time to fully explore all the issues and questions which may arise and they are committed to a fully open and transparent process and really want input from the congregation.

Fr. Eric will begin the meeting with a short presentation on the budget with help from treasurer Catherine Way. They will outline the process for creating the 2013 budget in the Fall and the opportunities and challenges we are anticipating as we try to accomplish all that God has called us to do. There will time for table discussions and a conversation with the whole group.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Fr. Eric, Catherine Way, Donna Phillippi or Paul Johnson. We look forward to seeing you on June 11.

Mother's Day Brunch follow up

The Men of St. Luke's Church were pleased to exhibit their culinary expertise by preparing a sumptuous feast for over 70 people on Mother's Day. We offered everything from Fenton Gustafson's egg-cheese-sausage casserole to Chip Ulrich's exotic seafood quiche. Thanks to all of the men participating in this event, and especially to Chip Ulrich for his efforts in being the organizer. The men very much enjoy hosting the brunch each Mother's Day!             -- Dan Anderson

Annual Church Picnic - June 10th

picnicAre you ready

for the Church Picnic?

Sunday, June 10th, we'll gather for worship at 10:30 a.m. at Camp Onyahsa, Dewittville for our Annual Church Picnic. We'll celebrate Holy Communion, recognize our church school kids and teachers, and enjoy a feast of a potluck lunch. Lake activities will be available after lunch. Bring a dish to pass, and something to grill.
