Holy Week & Easter at St. Luke's

The liturgies of Holy Week are the high point of the Christian year. Through them we not only remember, but we participate in the events of Jesus' passion, death and resurrection. The footwashing and Last Supper, the stripping of the altar, the meditation at the Cross and the Great Vigil of Easter all prepare us to truly celebrate the victory and joy of Easter Day. These powerful and emotional services are wonderful opportunities to bring friends to church as well. And if you are traveling, be sure to find an Episcopal Church in your area.

WORSHIP during LENT -

Where Tradition meets Today!

This Sunday, the 5th Sunday in Lent, March 25th  "Expanding our Images of God" will be the "theme" of our worship.  Sometimes familiar words limit our understanding of God's activity. We'll explore new texts, spoken and sung.

Each Sunday during Lent at 10 a.m. our worship has been a different style of liturgy and music, but each one fitting under the umbrella of "Episcopal Holy Eucharist," in adhering to the same pattern of Word-Prayer-Communion, and illustrating the rich diversity of Episcopal/Anglican worship.

Join us at 10 am Sunday worship, and bring a friend; you just might be surprised at how God touches your heart in a new prayer, song or ceremony.

WEDNESDAY GROUP - March 28th

The program this month at Wednesday Group entitled "Getting Back to things you Love" will feature orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. William Fritz, and physical therapist, Dan Johnson from Rehab Services.

The Wednesday Group is a special time for senior members of our parish to gather together for worship, lunch and a program in the undercroft at St. Luke's. We generally meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Coffee is available from 11 am, the service is at 11:30 and the luncheon and program follow. We are finished by 2 pm.

Transportation to and from the Wednesday Group is also available for those who need a ride. For more information, call the church office, 483-6405, or Elizabeth McIntyre, 664-2873.

Fellowship at St. Luke's   ...

For about a year and a half we have been working on a parish plan which has emphasized spiritual growth through a series of retreats and also helping people find out about and connect with our ministries at church. The third part of our plan involves increasing opportunities for fellowship and community.

We already have a number of classes and groups which promote fellowship--the men's group, altar guild, Bishop Overs Guild, youth group, Thrift Shop, just to name a few. But the vestry has been working on planning more events which foster community and help us connect with one another.

We'd like to invite you to two special events this Spring which are being planned for fun and fellowship. On Friday, April 20 we'll meet at church for a simple pizza and salad dinner and then head over to the Spire to watch Godspell. And on May 19,  we are planning another Murder Mystery Dinner.

Mark your calendars now. We hope you can join us for one or both of these fun events. More information will be forthcoming.
