Ministry Opportunities at St. Luke's ~  Altar Guild

If you have ever wondered how the worship space is prepared and cared for week to week, you should consider helping out the Altar Guild. From setting up the Eucharistic elements before services each week, cleaning them up afterward, keeping the linens and altar hangings clean and looking good, the Altar Guild is intimately tied into the life of worship.

Altar Guild members receive training in how to care for and work with each item, are assigned to a team (we work in teams in the church!) and share in four seasonal meetings during the year to support one another and celebrate their work together. All teams are in need of new members, and people young and old, male and female are welcome to join. Everyone can help!

Talk with Donna Phillippi, our Sacristan at St. Luke's, for more information. Volunteering to learn about Altar Guild does not require a life-time commitment ... unless you "fall into the groove" and desire it!

palm crossJoin with members of the Altar Guild on Thursday, March 29th as they make palm crosses for Palm Sunday. Come to the church kitchen after 5:00 pm and learn the "secret" of creating a palm branch cross. Pizza and beverages will also be available.

WORSHIP during LENT -

Where Tradition meets Today!

Each Sunday during Lent at 10 a.m. our worship has been a different style of liturgy and music, but each one fitting under the umbrella of "Episcopal Holy Eucharist," in adhering to the same pattern of Word-Prayer-Communion, and illustrating the rich diversity of Episcopal/Anglican worship. This Sunday, the 5th Sunday in Lent, March 25th, is "Expanding our Images of God." Sometimes familiar words limit our understanding of God's activity. We'll explore new texts, spoken and sung.

Join us at 10 am Sunday worship, and bring a friend; you just might be surprised at how God touches your heart in a new prayer, song or ceremony.

This Sunday, the 4th Sunday in Lent, March 18,  is "Joyful Praise." Gospel and contemporary praise songs will lift our spirits as we highlight the joy of knowing Jesus.

5th Sunday in Lent, March 25th - "Expanding our Images of God." Sometimes familiar words limit our understanding of God's activity. We'll explore new texts, spoken and sung.

WEDNESDAY GROUP - March 28th

The program this month at Wednesday Group entitled "Getting Back to things you Love" will feature orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. William Fritz, and physical therapist, Dan Johnson from Rehab Services.

The Wednesday Group is a special time for senior members of our parish to gather together for worship, lunch and a program in the undercroft at St. Luke's. We generally meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Coffee is available from 11 am, the service is at 11:30 and the luncheon and program follow. We are finished by 2 pm.

Transportation to and from the Wednesday Group is also available for those who need a ride. For more information, call the church office, 483-6405, or Elizabeth McIntyre, 664-2873.
