Lenten Retreat with Bishop Franklin
We are thrilled to partner with the Chautauqua Deanery to welcome our bishop, The Rt. Rev. R. William Franklin, for a Lenten retreat. This retreat will give St. Luke's members the chance to connect with Bishop Franklin and with parishioners from the other churches in our Chautauqua Deanery. It will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 11 Day St., Fredonia, NY. The cost is $10 which will include lunch. Sign-in/Registration begins at 9:00 am with the program starting at 9:30. We expect to be finished by 2:00. This retreat is part of our year-long series of retreats "Becoming a New Creation: Discovering/Rediscovering the Presence of God in Your Life." Mark your calendar now for the next in the series also, a Celtic retreat led by Janice-Marie McDonald on Saturday, April 28 at St. Luke's.
This Lenten retreat promises to be an excellent opportunity to deepen your spirituality during this holy season of Lent. If you are interested in carpooling up to Trinity Church, please call the office at 483-6405. Registration forms are available at church, at the office and online at our website: stlukesjamestown.org.
Bishop Franklin is a former university and seminary professor and dean and a noted lecturer and workshop leader. Those who attended the forum in Epiphany were raving about his video teaching series. He will be producing another video teaching series for Easter season and I encourage you to catch that if you can. As a special treat, Bishop Franklin will also be dropping in on our Lenten program to be with our kids on March 7th.

Moses and a Burning Bush!
How does God get your attention? With Moses, God lit a bush on fire and then spoke from it. Wow! We're exploring this story from Exodus and considering what it might take for us to notice God in our busy, daily lives.

The Acting Apostles | |
The Bible tells us that Jesus grew up as a regular kid in Nazareth, listening to his parents and growing in wisdom (Luke 2:51-52). No doubt he faced temptations as an adolescent, not just as an adult in our famous Lenten story. The Acting Apostles will be presenting an original production, "The Early Temptations of Christ," on Sunday, March 18th! If you'd like to be a part of this production, join us in the "Re-Creation" room!

ADULT FORUM | |
On Sunday, March 11, the Forum will continue the Lenten series on "Sacramental Christianity or Why God has dirt under His Fingernails." Fr. Eric will help us to take a deeper look into the theology of the Eucharist and leads us in an exploration of what it means to experience God in "our peculiar form of liturgical, sacramental Christianity." Join us as we delve into the seven sacraments over the course of Lent. |

WORSHIP during LENT -
Where Tradition meets Today!
Each Sunday through Lent at 10 a.m. we will worship using a different type of liturgy and music, all fitting under the umbrella of "Episcopal Holy Eucharist," adhering to the same pattern of Word - Prayer - Communion. Illustrating the rich diversity of Episcopal / Anglican worship.
3rd Sunday in Lent, March 11: "Contemplative Worship." Elements of monastic worship and silent contemplation will deepen Word and Prayer.
4th Sunday in Lent, March 18: "Joyful Praise." Gospel and contemporary praise songs will lift our spirits as we highlight the joy of knowing Jesus. |
