Announcing a New Small Group for Singers

The Motet Group will be a group that will meet approximately every three weeks to sing a capella music together.   We will also pray together  and enjoy fellowship and good food and drink.  Our first gathering will be at the rectory, 311 Crossman St. on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 pm.  From there on we will meet at different places.  If you are interested, please speak to Peter Bumsted or Fr. Eric.  The music will be challenging and we recommend this group especially for those who can read music.

LOOP the LAKE -- Driver Needed

We need a sag wagon driver for the Loop the Lake bike ride on July 16th.  If you are able to drive, you can do this job.  Basically, we need someone to keep track of the bike riders and rescue anyone who has difficulty physically or mechanically.  We will stock the vehicle with water and bike supplies.   Please call Dave and Cilla Menzies if you can help.

From the Thrift Shop

During July and August the Thrift Shop will be open Wednesdays instead of Saturdays.  I'm happy to announce that Cindi Prince has accepted the treasurer's job, and Martha Herbst will be schedule coordinator.  Thank you Cindi and Martha!!

LOOP the LAKE Bicycle Ride, July 16

Saturday, July 16th, is St. Luke's 8th annual "Loop the Lake" charity bicycle ride to support Episcopal Community Services (ECS).  This is an event that every member of St. Luke's can participate in either by riding or sponsoring a rider.  We live in a beautiful area and there is no better way to see the landscape than on a bike.

The ride begins and ends at 68 E Terrace Ave, Lakewood, NY, the home of Dave & Cilla Menzies.  Registration begins at 8:30 am and the ride at 9 am.  For additional information please contact Cilla or Dave Menzies at 716-763-4331.

And as a warm-up, plan to ride in the TOUR de ZONTA on July 9 in Mayville.  This ride is sponsored by the Zonta Club of Jamestown.

CONFIRMATION  - July 17

The Rt. Rev. R. William (Bill) Franklin, will be at St. Luke's for his first official visitation on Sunday, July 17th, for comfirmation, baptism and receiving.  He'll baptize, confirm and receive a wonderful group, and special reception for all will follow the 10 am worship that Sunday.

We know you'll enjoy getting to know "Bishop Bill."  Engaging, energetic and really smart, +Bill is on a mission to get to know as many members of the diocese as possible, and to learn the gifts for ministry in each parish, as he charts a course for our common life.

Please contact the church office if you are able to help with the reception on the 17th, and do plan to join us in worship at the 10 am service as we welcome new Christians to St. Luke's.

                    RUMMAGE SALE ! !

St. Luke's 3rd Annual Rummage Sale takes place August 5 & 6; the same weekend as the Lucy-Desi days celebration!
To make this sale another huge success, we need the help of the whole parish
First, help by bringing in your unwanted treasures.  Really anything in reasonable condition is welcome.  TV's, electronics, dishes, toys, exercise equipment, clothing.  You may not need it or want it any more, but someone is bound to.
Second, help us by sorting items as you drop them off by category into the rooms which will be labeled.   The more you bring in, the more money we can raise.
Third, --  VOLUNTEER to help during the sale.  The more helpers, the lighter the load and we have a lot of fun!

Our fearless leader is Roxanne Wendling.  She's really going to need our help this year as she has recently started a new job.  Questions?..., please contact Roxanne Wendling at (716) 499-3629.
