Presiding Bishop's Visit | | |
Presiding Bishop at Chautauqua - July 3rd
This Sunday, July 3rd, our Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, will be the preacher at the Chautauqua Institution amphitheater worship. We are encouraging St. Luke's parishioners to attend the 10:45 A.M. worship service at the amphitheater, and we are canceling the 10 am service at St. Luke's for this day.
Admission and parking are free on Sundays! ( Parking is free until 1:30 pm)
We will hold our Saturday 5 pm service and Sunday 8 am service as usual, on July 2 & 3. Also, Episcopal Communion services are held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd on the Chautauqua grounds at 7:45 am and 9:00 am on Sundays, if you'd like to take advantage of either of those services.
Please plan to take advantage of this great opportunity for our Western New York and Pennsylvania areas to have our Presiding Bishop here.

We live in a beautiful area and there is no better way to see the landscape than on a bike.
This recreational bike ride benefits Episcopal Community Services (ECS) the charitable arm of the Diocese of Western New York.
Registration is at 8:30 am and the ride begins at 9 am. The ride will begin and end at 68 E. Terrace Ave, Lakewood NY. For more information please contact Cilla or Dave Menzies at 716-763-4331.

CONFIRMATION - July 17 | |
Our new bishop, The Rt. Rev. R. William (Bill) Franklin, will be at St. Luke's for his first official visitation on July 17. He'll baptize, confirm and receive a wonderful group of children, teens and adults; and stay for a reception, and a meeting with St. Luke's Vestry.
We know you'll enjoy getting to know "Bishop Bill" as we've enjoyed knowing, since he taught us Church History in Seminary. Engaging, energetic and really smart, +Bill is on a mission to get to know as many members of the diocese as possible, and to learn the gifts for ministry in each parish, as he charts a course for our common life.
If you'd like to help with the reception on July 17, please let us know at the church office.
Put July 17 at 10 a.m. on your calendar to meet the Bishop at St. Luke's.
-- Susan & Eric

St. Luke's 3rd Annual Rummage Sale will take place August 5 & 6, coinciding with the Lucy-Desi days celebration!
To make this another huge success, we need the help of the whole parish.
First, you can help us by bringing in your unwanted treasures. Really anything in reasonable condition is welcome. TV's, electronics, dishes, toys, exercise equipment, clothing. You may not need it or want it any more, but someone is bound to.
Second, you can help us by sorting items as you drop them off by category into the rooms which will be labeled. The more you bring in, the more money we can raise.
Third, you can help by volunteering during the sale. The more helpers, the lighter the load and we have a lot of fun!
. Our fearless leader is Roxanne Wendling. She's really going to need our help this year as she has recently started a new job. Questions?..., please contact Roxanne Wendling at (716) 499-3629. |
