CHARITY BICYCLE RIDE

around Lake Chautauqua

St. Luke's will be holding the 8th annual "Loop the Lake" charity bicycle ride Saturday, July 16th.  This is an event that every member of St. Luke's can participate in either by riding or sponsoring a rider.  We live in such a beautiful area and there is no better way to see the landscape than on a bike.

This is a recreational ride around Chautauqua Lake to benefit Episcopal Community Services (ECS).  ECS is the charitable arm of the Diocese of Western New York and provides assistance to the most vulnerable children and adults in Western New York through eighteen member agencies, including Chautauqua Rural Ministries in Dunkirk.

Registration is at 8:30 am and the ride begins at 9:00 am.  The ride will begin and end at 68 E. Terrace Ave, Lakewood NY.  There will be rest stops and refreshments along the ride.  Riders will be served a free lunch after the ride.  There is no cost to the ride, but riders are asked to get sponsors.  There is no minimum to ride. Money and forms can be turned in before the ride (preferred), or sent in no later than July 20th.

If you have never ridden the lake before but are interested in trying, now is your chance! We are looking for volunteers to help with registration, refreshments, road support and the lunch after the ride.  Another way you can get involved is by sponsoring a rider.  Please consider participating in "Loop the Lake" in some way.

For more information please contact Cilla or Dave Menzies at 716-763-4331.

And as a warm-up, you can plan to ride also in the

TOUR de ZONTA on July 9 in Mayville.  This ride is sponsored by the Zonta Club of Jamestown and will benefit efforts to end human trafficking.  Visit www.zontajamestown.org for more information.  There are rides of 5, 15 and 35 miles.

Ministry Opportunity --

Are you energetic, understanding, compassionate?  Do you have a real heart for youth and an awareness of the problems facing young people today?  Are you willing to act as an older brother or sister, aunt or uncle, while showing them the love of Christ?  Volunteer mentors and workers are needed for the Soaring UP Skate Park, GameRoom and Café at the Family Center of Community Helping Hands.  This is a real ministry opportunity, working with young people who are mostly unchurched and in middle school or early high school. If this sounds like a ministry for you, please contact your pastor for a written referral to Pastor Amy Rohler, Director of Ministry at:
