Holy Week at St. Luke's

This is it: our high holy days, the most important week of our entire church year.  During these great days we walk with Jesus through the final week of His earthly life.  We remember the incredible lengths to which He went to redeem us from sin and death.  And we celebrate the awesome victory of His resurrection and the promise of eternal life.  I invite and encourage you to attend as many of these services as you possibly can.  If you are traveling for Spring break, get to church as often as you can.

4/16-17 Palm Sunday   Services will be held as usual on Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 8 & 10 am.  There is no forum or church school that day.  Those who wish to process with us outside should gather in the undercroft by 9:45 am.

There will be no Forum on Palm Sunday (April 17) nor on Easter (April 24.)  The Forum will resume on May 1.

YOUTH NEWS !

We have a lot going on during the month of April and on into May! We want to make you all aware of everything that the youth program has planned!

Our J2A (Journey 2 Adulthood) class is going on a pilgrimage this year!  We are currently fundraising for this trip, and are selling Ozark Delights Lollipops for $1 a piece!  Yum. Try one!

On April 22, Good Friday, the youth will be presenting a modern stations of the cross. This service will begin at 7:13pm and will include movie clips that correspond with each station.  ** Some clips may contain mature subject matters, viewer discretion is advised.**

On Sunday, May 1st the youth will be hosting the 10am service. The Sunday is themed "Viva La Vida." We will be celebrating and living the life that God has for us. Please plan to come and support the youth on this Sunday!  We will also be holding a basket auction immediately following the service to benefit our J2A pilgrimage, and we are also asking for donations for this.  These would be baskets that go along the theme for that Sunday, for instance a basket with a YMCA 6 month membership, a water bottle, a gift card to a local athletic store, and a "Eat Healthy" cookbook would be a great "Live a healthy life" basket donation to make toward this cause!  We hope to also auction off items such as:  A dinner for 4 at our house, 10 typing lessons, a teen's guide to Facebook and the internet, or other such items.

Please come support us in these undertakings and let us know what you have to offer in the way of help with our auction!                         ~ Miguel

Volunteer Opportunities at St. Luke's

If you enjoy working outdoors, there are opportunities at the church property that would benefit from your attention.  Some are on-going during the summer, such as lawn mowing.  The grit from winter needs to be swept up from our sidewalks and around the church and parish house.  Other projects include planting and weeding flowers;  clean up in the prayer garden next to the Thrift Shop; and wire brushing and painting the outdoor railing.  Give the church office a call 483-6405 - if any of these projects fit the bill for you, or maybe you've seen something that needs attention that you'd like to help.  Let us know; this is your church!

THRIFT SHOP

REMEMBER the Thrift Shop as you empty your closets to make room for your new spring arrivals!  The Thrift Shop also continues to accept winter items at this time, along with those spring and summer items you're clearing out.  Items that are clean and in good condition, without need of repair, along with small household items are welcome at St. Luke's Thrift Shop!

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATIONS AVAILABLE

CAMP!  Registrations with health forms are available on line at www.eyouthwny.org  or at the church office.

Through a generous gift from the Thrift Shop, scholarships are available to St. Luke's members for church camp.
