A Changing of the Guard

As many of you know by now, our treasurer and friend, Cathy Johnner, is moving to St. Louis on April 21.  She has accepted a position as Retirement Plan Services Manager for Bender, Thomas, Weltman and Perry.  I am delighted to announce that the vestry has appointed Catherine Way as our new treasurer, effective May 1.  Catherine will be assisted by Janet Card and Sandi Gustafson who have been working this past year assisting with our financial data and reporting.  Cathy has also agreed to continue on through 2011 as a consultant by phone and occasionally in person as needed while we make the transition.

For the past eleven years, Cathy Johnner has served St. Luke's with great distinction.  She has revolutionized and modernized our budgeting and financial management systems, and has facilitated the creation of endowment, spending and budgeting policies that have enabled us to become better stewards of our financial resources.  Her wisdom and expertise have truly been invaluable.  She has given countless hours in service to this parish and we owe her a great debt of gratitude.

Cathy has also been a faithful and enthusiastic participant in the greater life of the parish.  I am sure I speak for all of us when I say how much we will miss her lively spirit and sense of humor.

Her last Sunday with us will be April 10.  During the 10 am service we will give her a blessing.  Following the service there will be a reception in her honor.  I hope that all of you can be present to thank her for her service and to wish her bon voyage.  If you would like to make a gift, you can of course bring one on that Sunday, or you can drop off or send a check to the Rector's Discretionary Fund marked "Cathy" and we will present her with a combined gift from the parish.

--Fr. Eric

There will be no Forum on Palm Sunday (April 17) nor on Easter (April 24.)  The Forum will resume on May 1.

EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES - ECS

Episcopal Community Services' 2011 Appeal invites you to

"Put your Compassion into Action...Create New Beginnings."

Episcopal Community Services agencies help those in need in Western New York. ECS is local outreach - helping our very own neighbors in need. Strengthening individual communities in our local area means a strong, vital, functioning larger community of which we are all a part.

Our donations help people across the seven counties of the Diocese of Western New York.  People are helped regardless of age, race, gender, national origin or religious affiliation.

Through the combined efforts of all 63 congregations in the diocese, we can make a huge difference in the lives of those who need emergency assistance, mentoring or counseling.
ECS gives us an opportunity to come together to make a much larger impact than if we were to respond individually.

Give generously to the 2011 ECS Campaign
