"Overcoming Obstacles...Living a Transformed Life"
Our Wednesday Evening Program for Lent
March 16, 23, 30 and April 6 and 13
Through the Natural Church Development Survey and Retreat we heard loud and clear that many of us yearn for a church community that can really help us deal with the challenges we face in our lives. These challenges often prevent us from fuller participation in church and even from a deeper relationship with God.
As a result our theme for the Wednesday evening program will be learning how to recognize and to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from living a transformed and joyful life. We'll hear from parishioners about what has made a difference in their journeys and share parts of our own stories of challenge and victory in Christ in small groups. I strongly encourage you to take part in this series and gain strength and encouragement for your journey of faith.
The schedule will be:
6:00-6:30 pm Service in the Chapel
6:30-7:00 pm Soup Supper in the undercroft
7:00-8:30 pm Lenten Program
The Youth Group will meet as usual these nights in the parish house and there will be nursery care and a special program for children up through grade 6 at the YMCA. Kids should bring swimming suits, towels and running around clothes.
The chapel service will include Scripture and prayer and musical offerings by a different young person each week. Our presenters for the adult class include: Fr. Eric, Jane Campbell, JaniceMarie McDonald and Donna Phillippi.
As always, you are invited to come for as many sessions as you can and to invite your friends.
--Fr. Eric |

Kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade will have fun at the YMCA on Wednesday evenings! Be sure to wear comfy clothes and gym-shoes. A donation of $2/night or $10 for the series would be much appreciated.
¶ On March 16, our group will enjoy learning new, active games with the Y's "Fun Fitness" instructor, Rich Nary.
¶ The following week, March 23, bring your swimsuit, towel and goggles for "free swim" in the upper pool! A couple of chaperones are needed - talk to Mother Susan. Thanks! |

LENT CHURCH SCHOOL THEME:
Thankful to God - For Good Friday
This Lent we'll gather at the cross and consider its meaning. How and why did Jesus get there? Why do we call it "Good" when what happened was so awful? In age-appropriate ways we'll contemplate this central event of our faith. (And yes our final story will be Easter!)

Feinstein Foundation Fight Against Hunger
Once again, Joint Neighborhood Project has been invited to participate in the annual Feinstein Foundation Fight Against Hunger campaign. The more money or food JNP is able to raise between March 1 and April 30, the more of the Feinstein money we will receive! Donations may be by cash, check, or food items. Each food item is valued at $1.00. Ideas for our food pantry include canned fruits, canned vegetables, powdered milk or canned juices, spaghetti sauces and pastas, canned stews and chili, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, salmon or chicken, soup, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, instant mashed potatoes, and minute rice. Your donation, whether financial or in food, is greatly appreciated! |

A New Episcopal Hymnal??
The Church Pension Group's Office of Research is assisting the Episcopal Church's Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music in fulfilling its General Convention mandate in Resolution B004 to determine whether a revision of The Hymnal 1982 is needed and wanted by the Episcopal Church. Congregations, music directors, and clergy are invited to participate in the Hymnal Revision Feasibility Study, a landmark research study being conducted via online surveys and focus groups from fall 2010 to spring 2011. To participate, simply visit the study's dedicated web page: http://www.cpg.org/hymnalstudy2. There you will find complete information about the study and links to the particular survey appropriate to their role. If you have any questions or difficulty logging into the appropriate survey, please send an email to hymnalsurvey@cpg.org and we will be happy to assist you. If the website asks for a parish ID #, it is 6873-0894. |

YOUTH NEWS for March | |
A Cry for Help!
Ok, maybe it isn't as desperate and dire as the title makes it sound, but if you have seen the furniture and the rooms on the 3rd floor of the parish house you would agree. We need some help making our youth rooms comfortable for our teens and other guests we may have. So we are putting out the word to people that we need these things:
· Sofas- in decent shape, we need at least 3
· Chairs- recliners or other comfortable chairs
· Board games
· Electronics
o A cd player
o Dvd player
o (not needed but wanted) xbox 360
