Encouraging One Another:

A Half day for the WHOLE Parish

On Saturday, February 12 from 8:30 am -12:30 pm the St. Luke's family will gather for an important retreat.  As we discussed at the annual meeting, our Natural Church Development survey has given us some interesting issues to ponder as we plan for the current and future ministry of our church.

The purpose of this retreat is to discern prayerfully the ways that St. Luke's can more effectively help each member of the church overcome the obstacles in their lives and grow in their relationship with God.  We are not looking to add more work for busy and often overwhelmed people.  Instead we are looking for solutions to the problems we all face in living a full and joyful life.  This is part of our ongoing effort to be led by the Holy Spirit in the planning and ministry of our church.

The day will begin at 8:30 am with registration and coffee and we will end at 12:30 pm.  Light refreshments will be provided.  The rector will start us off with an introduction and there will be time for individual reflection and prayer, small group discussion and large group conversation.  Your presence, your witness and your wisdom are required if this retreat is to bear fruit in the life of our parish.

Coffee and refreshments will be provided.  Child care will be provided upon request.  Please let us know you are coming.  Email stluke@netsync.net or call 483-6405.

CHURCH SCHOOL Thankful for Healing

ChurchSchool: Thankful for Healing

The ChurchSchool finishes its session on "Thankful to God for Healing" Feb. 6th.  For the rest of Epiphany, we'll meet three faithful young men - Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego - who were thrown into the fiery furnace when they refused to worship an idol.  Parents familiar with "Veggie Tales" may recognize them as "Rack, Shack and Benny," and yes we'll be viewing that movie as part of our course! New teachers and assistants are welcome to join in the fun, as we get "Thankful to God in Times of Trial." Contact Mother Susan to find out more. Thanks!

Eucharistic Visiting:

Current EVshave been invited; and we're opening it to others who might feel called to know more. The best way to learn is to come along on a scheduled visit; and we can set that up on the 6th. If you can't make it to the meeting but would like information about this ministry, please talk to Mother Susan, Deacon Cathy, or one of our current EVs.

Where does the time go?  Although Lent and Easter are late this year, it is already time to plan for the Wednesday Night Lenten Program!  We will again offer a worship service followed by a soup supper and then a short program.  To that end, we need folks to begin signing up to help "host" one of the Soup Suppers. A sign-up sheet is in the Undercroft along with the "guidelines" for a soup supper.  If you have any questions, please talk with Barbara Bumsted.
