| Tossing Out the Virtual Welcome Mat |
Welcome to our first issue of hook, line & sinker. We've been so busy, and our agency has grown so much in the last five years that our correspondence with our friends has gotten a little, shall we say, "less consistent." We're working to correct that with hook, line & sinker.
Think of this newsletter like an electronic welcome mat that we're throwing out, inviting you into our place. Many of our friends have been to our brick and mortar place - The Communications Group's offices are located on the 13th floor (yep, it's lucky) of the Regions Center in beautiful downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. We get many comments from visitors about the beautiful view and the panoramic vistas of Little Rock and the Arkansas River.
We'd like to welcome you to our new "virtual place" as well. It can be found at www.comgroup.com. We hope you'll surf the site and give us your feedback. We want to hear from you.
We're sending you this first issue because we think you might find some of the work we're doing for our clients interesting. We don't want to be one more annoyance in your e-mail inbox, so please know that if you tell us, we'll be happy to take you off our e-mail list. See the "unsubscribe" option at the bottom of the page. In the meantime, enjoy this issue and we look forward to talking to you again soon.

| New Accounts and Projects Won by The Communications Group |
It's been a good year at The Communications Group. We had a particularly productive third quarter picking up the following accounts:
- ARKids First - We competed for and won this coveted account for the third time
- Chronic Disease Division of the Arkansas Department of Health - We competed against nine other agencies, including two from out of state, to win this health education and outreach campaign. The multi-media campaign is statewide and focuses on prevention and disease management of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and hypertension
- NovaSys Health - We are working on a campaign to market the state's ARHealthNetworks small business health coverage program
- Walmart - We designed the concept, logo and materials for the retailer's recently announced nationwide employee wellness program called "Life with Baby"
- Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Museum - We designed a campaign for the museum that is designed to bring in visitors and help brand the destination
- Arkansas Baptist School System - We are working with this central Arkansas school system to develop and implement a multi-media branding and enrollment campaign (www.ArkansasBaptistSchoolSystem.com)
For those who are counting, The Communications Group has been handling the ARKids First outreach account since the program was first introduced to the state in 1997. It's a remarkable program that has helped the state move the needle in terms of uninsured children. The rest of the accounts represent new work and new relationships, expanding The Communications Group's roster of exceptional clients. Look for more information and peeks at the campaigns in future issues of hook, line & sinker. |
| TCG Garners 16 IABC/Arkansas Bronze Quill Awards |
Year in and year out we produce outstanding, results-driven work for our clients. It's especially nice to receive independent verification of that high quality from an independent third party, like for example, with our recent wins at IABC/Arkansas Bronze Quill Awards.
IABC sends awards entries to other chapters in the country for judging to ensure unbiased evaluation. The work we submitted took home more awards than any other agency recognized. Earning a total of 16 awards, the agency ranked second overall in the competition, only to Arkansas Children's Hospital in terms of total awards won.
Awards were given for work produced for Baldor, BreastCare, Delta Regional Authority (DRA), Healthy Baby, WellPoint, White River Medical Center, Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. | Sought After Account Goes to The Communications Group |
BreastCare, a highly sought after marketing account, has been awarded to The Communications Group of Little Rock after the completion of a competitive bid proposal process. The process included both written and oral presentations by nine advertising and marketing firms, including two from out of state. The Communications Group has been the agency of record for BreastCare since 2001, but according to state procurement procedures, the contract must be re-bid every seven years.
BreastCare is a program of the Arkansas Department of Health that provides free breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment for uninsured and underinsured women in Arkansas. Dan Cowling, agency president, said, "The people in our agency are very happy that we retained this account, because for many, BreastCare isn't just an account, it's a passion. We've been on the inside of the breast cancer fight in Arkansas since 2001 and we are very dedicated to making sure underserved women have access to screening and treatment." |
| Sports Hall of Fame Museum Taps The Communications Group for Marketing Campaign |
Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame board member Rex Nelson recently approached The Communications Group about helping the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Museum generate more visitors to the facility located on the west side of Alltel Arena. Agency creative director Neal Moore has created new television and radio spots which will air on local stations and on the jumbo screen at Dickey-Stephens Park, home of the Arkansas Travelers.
"We have never seen our work appear on a jumbo screen, so it was an exciting debut," said Moore who worked with Little Rock production company George Creative Productions ( www.Georgecp.com) to produce the TV spots. The Works ( www.gimmetheworks.com) provided audio production.
The Communications Group has also produced an outdoor design. Billboard space will be donated by Lamar Advertising.
The Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame ( www.ArkSportsHallofFame.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the selection, recognition, and acknowledgement of individuals who, through outstanding achievement and accomplishments, have brought honor, prestige, and fame to the state of Arkansas. The hall of fame has been inducting outstanding athletes in Arkansas since 1959. Ray Tucker is executive director of the organization.
The Communications Group is proud to be part of the community. Each year, the agency seeks out ways to give back to the community by offering pro bono services to a deserving organization or non-profit group. To see more community service work, visit www.comgroup.com. |
