I am thankful for the impact Love INC has had on my life. I have spent hours with volunteers, staff, neighbors in need, board members, church ministry coordinators and pastors who are vital to the Love INC mission. I have prayed with and for them. I have laughed at Brad Stine concerts, won (and lost) bids at silent auctions, and taken kids to the H2Oasis family night fundraiser. I have explored the Annex and watched it fill and empty.

 

Suffice it to say I have seen many sides of the Love INC ministry. I am thankful when neighbors have needs met far and beyond their expectations when they call in. I have am thankful for people who use their culinary gifts. They make meals and drop them off at Love INC, frozen and ready to give to a neighbor.   They bake birthday cakes for kids, and confections for fundraisers. I am thankful for the organizations which give of their time and money to keep Love INC ministering and supply services to neighbors in need. I am thankful for teenagers assembling baskets, working on home makeovers and collecting canned goods to fill empty pantries. I am grateful for volunteers who spend their evenings working in the Annex and their days coordinating various aspects of the ministry.

 

I am thankful for churches that do chili feed fund raisers for Love INC, that place buckets in their churches for donations, and put Love INC into their annual budgets.   I am thankful for churches that form teams to pick up and deliver donated goods. I am thankful for each congregation's prayerful consideration of how God wants to use them to make Love INC more than it was before they partnered with us.

 

I am thankful for the board members who meet to make policy and promote the vision of Love. I am thankful for the hours they spend developing strategies to raise funds. I am grateful for their sacrifice as they plan and volunteer at fundraisers. I am grateful for their faithful prayer and personal financial support of Love INC.

 

I am thankful for the staff of Love INC, who while small in number, work faithfully and diligently to keep Love INC going and thriving. I am grateful for how they work alongside and encourage volunteers. I am thankful for the passion they have for what they do to meet the needs of the people of Anchorage. I am thankful for their perseverance and prayer for this organization.

 

I am thankful for you who read the newsletter and pray for the people and needs I write about every month. I am thankful for you who volunteer at Love INC, donate your time, money, and resources to help Anchorage residents. I am thankful for your willingness to tell others about what Love INC does so that they too can become involved.  I am thankful God has given us this ministry to be a part of. I am thankful He has called you and me to partner together to make it work. I am thankful for the opportunities He gives us, great and small, mundane and unique to be His heart and hands to a hurting city.

Love INC's Spotlight On Partner Churches

 

Christian Church of Anchorage is located at 10800 Lake Otis Pkwy, right on the corner of Lake Otis and O'Malley (phone number 522-6020, Website: www.christianchurchofanchorage.com, email: ccaoffice@gci.net, and Facebook: Christian Church of Anchorage). It is a nondenominational church with affiliations with the restoration movement. Deryl Titus ministers as their pastor. The church is committed to their mission statement to make disciple-making disciples as Jesus called us to do in Matthew 28:19-20. Mandy Titus, their Love INC contact person, described how Love INC helps promote this. "It connects us with people who are in need of God's love and grace. It helps us look beyond ourselves and see who is hurting around us."

 

They are active with Love INC in giving financially each month, donating furniture and the frozen meals Love INC provides to neighbors in need. Members have also delivered baskets.   In addition to partnering with us, the congregation is an active part of Thanksgiving Blessing and food drives for the Fairview Kids' Kitchen.

 

The church is exploring how they can further become involved with the mission of Love INC. Mandy shares how they are exploring the possibilities. "Sometimes we can afford to give them a little financial help, but is that all we should, or can do? Have we really helped the person by only giving them money? Rarely is money the only problem. So we have discussed other ways to become involved with their lives .... We [can] come alongside of them and truly offer them the Love of Christ in more ways. Rides [to] places, clothing, food, childcare, the list could go on. Boundaries would have to be set and a co-op here at our church would need to be set up so our entire church could work at this together. This is something we are currently looking into." Please raise this congregation up in prayer as they seek God's direction.
