LINC Quick Connect Header

Dear ,

Love INC partners in ministry in many ways:  with organizations, businesses, churches, families and other service agencies.  One wife expressed her appreciation for all those who stayed by her side as she supported her husband through getting a prosthetic leg.  They needed support as he received modifications to the leg, occupational therapy, physical therapy and water therapy and took his first steps.  Transportation and assistance with all the daily things for her and a wheelchair ramp for him, required this couple to rely on the loving hands of many.  Love INC was part of that team who supported her.  In an email that had a long list of recipients she writes "I want to take this time to thank Love INC and my family working miracles by phone, computer and so much more to make the day he comes home possible."

For others, such a support system as the couple above had does not exist.

A man in his sixties met with adversity, which threatened to leave him homeless.  Unemployed and faced with problems with his vehicle, car insurance and driver's license, his trials were more than he could handle alone and he found himself having "to resort to asking for help with a multitude of issues".  After contacting Love INC he found there were people who truly cared about the plight in which he found himself.  "That's more refreshing to me than can be imagined.  It's so easy to wallow in depression in the light of overwhelming difficulties....I have no idea where I'd be without the caring, kindness and generosity of Love INC.  Frankly, I wasn't aware that people such as you existed.  I'd like to formally express my gratitude for the assistance I've received."

Not everyone needs Love INC to be a lifeline.  Sometimes they are just the answer to a simple prayer.  For one woman, that was certainly the case.  She writes:  "I want to thank everyone at Love INC for the beautiful microwave that you so generously provided.  Volunteers brought it by this afternoon.  It exceeds my wildest expectations by leaps and bounds and I know I will enjoy using it for a very long time.  I don't think I have ever had one as big as this one and it seems to do just about everything except sing "Jingle Bells".  This gift on top of Molly's* visit and gift of hanging curtains in my living room has made today a day I will remember for a very long time and will definitely be a bright spot on my list of daily blessings.  I pray the Lord will continue to bless each of you and your ministry wherever it takes you."

Sometimes the letters that come in the mail are not from neighbors in need at all.  Ruby* expressed her appreciation, as someone from an organization getting help for her client:  "Thank you for being willing to be the hands of the Lord in such a practical and critical way.... When you prayed with her, she seemed to be deeply touched and when another opportunity arose for her to accept prayer, the impact of God's love had hit it's mark and she craved more.  Only God knows the full ripple affect of your kindness....Also, thank you for helping me navigate at my end as well!  Your encouragement, contact, coordination and gentle suggestions were invaluable."

Twice this summer Love INC was able to do home mini-makeovers.  Teams went in and did whatever needed to be done on properties that needed a little TLC.  Two ladies wrote to express their pleasure in the results.

"I wish you could have seen the activity here that day that all the volunteers were here to help me.  Most of the help (men) did all the yard work-two ladies who did the house work and one small boy, perhaps nine years old, who planted flowers in my yard.  I felt so very special that day and also my  yard still looks lovely.  Love INC must be a special place to have such very good volunteers.  I can't thank you enough just saying thank you, but the thank you comes from the bottom of my heart. May God bless each one of you and a sincerely thank you to each one of you."

Another writes:  I couldn't help but shed tears of joy when I saw all the awesome work the volunteers did for me on my yard, fence, bedroom and the painting and repair of the fence....Your gift of love and help to this senior citizen was appreciated more than you could ever imagine."

Just as these are only a sample of the thank you notes received, this is just a sample of the many ways your prayers, support and participation have allowed Love INC to minister and show the Love In the Name of Christ to so many in the Anchorage community.  Please accept our thanks for all you have done and all you continue to do in the name of Christ.

Love INC's Spotlight On Parnter Churches

We enjoy taking the opportunity to introduce you to the partner churches of Love INC in this part of the newsletter.  Every month we highlight a different partner church and give you a glimpse into what its body of believers is like.  We want you  to see  how God uses churches of all shapes, sizes and styles to reach out to Anchorage.

Baxter Road Bible Church is an independent church located at 3600 Baxter Road (337-5222).  You can also find them on the internet at www.baxterroad.org, and on email at:  church@baxterroad.org.  They have been ministering with Love INC since we began ministering.  Baxter Road Bible Church's mission is to be a place where people come to know Christ, and people who already know Christ come to know Him better.

Pastor Bob Mather describes it as a church dedicated to showing Christ's love for each other and for the community.  Those who go to Baxter Road Bible find a place to minister and show that love in a variety of places.  You will find them in Alaska Prison Ministry, Alaska Men's Ministry, Anchorage Rescue Mission, Parachutes, Kokrine Hills, Sold Rock, Victory, and LIWA Bible Camps.  They have a benevolence ministry too.  Love INC is part of that.  As a partner church, Baxter Road Bible provides day bus passes and partners with other churches in providing household essentials baskets.

Mike Miller, the CMC, explains how Love INC is an important part of fulfilling their mission statement. "It helps us as the Body of Christ to more wisely and effectively help those in need.  Perhaps some who are helped will come to know Him, to seek to know Him better."

Thank You to Our Community Partners

Love INC relies completely on the willing hearts and countless volunteers from churches throughout the Anchorage bowl.  However, sometimes individuals and churches cannot supply the need.  For such instances, Love INC is grateful for agencies, foundations and businesses with special gifts only they can bring to the table.

Alaska Mechanical Repair, owner and operator Bob Herold,  thank you for repeatedly going above and beyond the call of duty in helping those with vehicles in need.  And for showing patience, kindness and the joy of the Lord to the vehicles' owners.

"BP seeks to make a positive difference in the societies in which we operate through genuine partnerships in which we seek to create mutual advantage."  This is BP's stand for development and community. Thank you for the grant which provided for a year lease on the warehouse facility which we fondly refer to as The Annex.

Dr. Biederman, thank you for offering your resources to those in our community who do not otherwise have the means for proper dental care.

The Langston Foundation is committed to caring for the community in which they live. It is their goal to "take a proactive approach in helping others succeed."  Langston Foundation, thank you for your generous grant towards the Kitchen and Bathroom gap ministries.

MAKAR Eye Care thank you for giving generously of your resources to a woman who otherwise would have continued to endure impaired vision.

Midas, thank you to your entire team who has assisted neighbors in need to get their vehicles back on the road safely and continue employment.
