Greetings!

Welcome to Quanser's July issue of ENews. We aim to keep Deans, Department Heads, Professors, Partners and Distributors updated on the latest academic initiatives in engineering.

For many, summer is the time to travel. In this issue, we will take you on a trip to Utah State University, to Seattle and Pittsburgh. You will visit a world-class control lab and get some highlights from the American Control Conference (ACC) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Conference. Enjoy the trip!

Conference Notes

ACC 2008 Seattle and ASEE 2008 Pittsburgh offered visitors a lot to see, hear and touch - here are few highlights:

- Quanser and partner company The Mathworks hosted a panel discussion that brought together leaders from industry and academia to weight in on what skills engineering graduates need.

Quanser Remote Book-Signing Event at ACC 2008, Seattle- Cameron Fulford, Quanser's control systems and integration engineer, presented to ACC delegates a paper on 5DOF Maglev positioning stage.

- UK Professor Dr. Michael Grimble demonstrated the LongPen, an industry -acclaimed control technology that mimics human handwriting. Watch the video!

Quanser at ASEE 2008 Conference- At ASEE, our partner company National Instruments unveiled their new ELVIS II.

 - Quanser took the opportunity to introduce new QNETs to aid in teaching fundamentals of motion control, biomedicalengineering and mechatronics.

- Quanser's haptics engineer  Mahyar Fotoohi presented a paper on Medical Robotics Laboratory.

Some other highlights from the ASEE 2008 include the Quanser hosted VIP Meet and Greet and the popular button contest. See for yourself how much fun everyone had!

Engineering Curriculum relevant to industry"Do you think it is important to have engineering curriculum and teaching tools relevant to industry?" asked Quanser at the ACC 2008 in Seattle. New Tools for Teaching and Research
