HOT OFF THE GRILL

Gayle's Sweet 'N' Sassy Newsletter

Greetings!

If you take a moment to enjoy the fabulous colors about to explode on the branches of the trees and tips of your favorite flowers, you will know that April is National Garden Month. April also brings to our attention that it is Stress Awareness month, and April 7th was World Health Day..

If you prepare your very special meal with a bottle of your favorite Gayle's BBQ Sauce, you will enjoy the full color of the rich red tomatoes. Did you know that eating tomatoes or any Red vegetable or fruit can help reduce the possibilities of Prostate cancer in men? Here is some information that may be interesting to you...

Research shows that red and bright pink fruits and vegetables contain physiochemicals, such as Lycopene and anthocyanins.. Physiochemical substances found only in plants, help your body fight disease and promote good health.

Lycopene helps reduce the risk of several types of cancer including prostate cancer. Watermelon, pink grapefruits and tomato based products such as spaghetti sauce,
BBQ sauce, (Gayles), tomato paste, and tomato juice are all good sources of lycopene.

Just imagine.. Eating Gayle's BBQ Sauce not only taste delicious, but also promotes good health which will bring your stress level down.. Who would have thought that Gayle's would be this good for you?

It's just about the time to heat up the grills and start eating healthier with GAYLE'S!

Enjoy,
-Gayle

BBQ Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Ingredients:
8 large headless shrimp
4 slices bacon
Gayle's Extra Sassy BBQ Sauce

Directions:
Clean and devein the shrimp, leaving the last section of the tail. Wrap with 1/2 slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick. Be sure and use the large shrimp; the cooking time for the shrimp and the bacon is similar. If you do use mediums, you might want to precook the bacon a little--over cooked shrimp are tough and rubbery, and a real sin!
Line a jellyroll pan (15x18x1 inch baking pan) with aluminum foil and place baking rack in pan. Place the shrimp on the rack, and drizzle with Gayle's BBQ Sauce, to taste; turn and drizzle second side. Set aside for 15 to 20 minutes while the oven preheats. The bacon will turn from creamy white to a little opaque, and the BBQ Sauce will soak in.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Bake wrapped shrimp in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes. The bacon should be crisp, and the shrimp pink and tender. The rack keeps the shrimp from sitting in the draining bacon fat. Enjoy!

Chipotlean Sea Bass
Ingredients:
1 pound Chilean Sea Bass
1 Tbl Gayle's Chipotle BBQ Sauce
1 tsp mustard
2 tsp granulated sugar
1 Tbl butter
about 20 green beans, washed and ends plucked clean

Directions:
Preheat oven to 250F. Melt butter over stovetop on medium-high in an oven-safe pan. While the pan is warming, mix Gayle's chipotle BBQ Sauce, mustard and sugar in a small bowl. Wash and pat dry the Sea Bass.

When pan is hot, sear the Sea Bass, skin side up for 2-3 minutes. Flip and sear skin side down for 2-3 minutes. (The thickest part of the fish should still be raw).

Brush the chipotle mix over the Sea Bass, place the green beans around the fish and put in center shelf of oven, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

Makes 2 servings.
