The ¡Sense Us 2010! exhibition at ArtXchange Gallery closed on April 30th after a two month run. The show was an astounding success. Here are some details from Lauren Davis, Gallery Manager:
"¡Sense Us 2010! drew more visitors and community interest to the gallery than any previous group show in ArtXchange history... We had good press in the Seattle Times, SLOG (The Stranger), Art Zone with Nancy Guppy, Seattle Woman, Daily Candy, Nuestro Noroeste, and more! The exhibit brought partnerships with KCTS9, the Society of Hispanic MBAs, the Latina/o Professionals Meetup, the South Park Photovoice children's group, Seattle University, and Miss Hispanic Seafair. Signed catalogs will be donated to Notre Dame (by Mr. Gil Cardenas, a visitor to the show) and local universities by Catalina Cantu."La Sala would like to congratulate all the participating artists and ArtXchange for this wonderful exhibition. Photovoice Exhibit May 7th - 7-8pm South Park Community Center 8319 8th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108
This year, the project focused on media literacy, tobacco advertising, and the healthy and unhealthy products being sold to our youth in South Park. The exhibit provides an opportunity for community members and leaders to come together and have a conversation about the observations and commentary the young photographers make about their neighborhood and community. Photovoice serves to promote dialogue, acting as a springboard for change in the community.
