We made it! On August 19, 2008, SBSN celebrated the one-year anniversary of our very first networking event. We celebrated right where it started ...Gregory's Piano Bar in Dayton.

On August 27, 2007 several frustrated business owners met to help each other with their challenges ...after all basically we had the same challenges ...just different levels and degrees.

Since that day SBSN have grown by leaps and bounds - sort of exploded! Our membership continues to grow rapidly.

The MBR (Mutually Beneficial Relationships) Alliance chapters were implemented and are now held in Centerville, Beavercreek, Dayton, Columbus and soon in Middletown, Springfield and West Chester.

Everything thing we do is driven by our passion, our mission...

To provide the best possible arena for small business owners to increase sales and achieve business success by creating a national network of small business owners who

-Work together to resolve small business challenges,

    -Hone networking and sales skills,

    -Patronize Members businesses and

-Help each other achieve their dreams.

Because we are small business owners ourselves we understand there is this "subculture" of small business owners who are hungry, starving, for:

-Affordable and effective ways to market their businesses and
      boost sales,
-Small business resources and answers to their questions,
-Connections to other small business owners
-Relief from the feelings of being alone and left out and
     -Funding, access to capital.

A year, later we remain true to our mission, thanks to our Member Executive Council:

Gabrielle Beyer, Reliv
Phil Capps, Bartolo's Executive Sedan Service
Jimmie Collins, JC Enterprises
Carm Crawford, Global Sales & Event Marketing
Bob Goldberg, Food for Thought Marketing
Adrian LeBlanc, US Bank
Jeremy Schans, First Financial Bank
Steve White, Action Coach

For this upcoming year our motto, our philosophy, is: Dream Big. Think Big.

And we have some pretty big stuff coming down the pike; the Small Biz SUCCESS! Expo, member coaching, boot camp, quarterly regionals, the gigantic multi-networking/organizational networking event, a foundation to help fund deserving small businesses and expansion into Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Kentucky!

A sincere heartfelt "Thank you" goes out to all of our members. We continually strive to truly be "Your partner in SUCCESS!" "Where Dreams Mean Business."

We look forward to celebrating with you at our second anniversary
celebration on Tuesday August 18, 2009. Same place. Same time.

5 "THINGS TO DO" this week
         to build your business...
MONDAY, August 25
Enlist free help. Visit your local university or college to enlist the services of the marketing, accounting, business or technology departments.

They are always looking for "projects" for hands-on studies. It's a great way to get fresh ideas and new life into your business ...free!

TUESDAY, August 26
Get back into business mode. Summer is just about over.It is time to get back into the swing of things.

Schedule two networking events for next week. Schedule your events in opposite times of the day in different parts of town.

Make appointments with two of the people you meet at the networking events.

WEDNESDAY, August 27
Make this "The week of your 'B list' prospects". Call them, email them, visit them to find out what you need to do to get their business.

Send them a list of testimonials from your current clients.

If you have new products or services be sure your B list clients know about them.

Try giving them a "freebie" to get them hooked.

THURSDAY, August 28
Do something "out of your comfort level" today. If  you do not feel comfortable cold calling on the telephone, steel up that backbone and call five new prospects.

Visit the offices or locations of five people you would like to have as clients/customers.

Attend a business event and introduce yourself to five people whom you have never met.

Call five people and ask them to be on your Advisory Board.

Ask your client/customer to pay that overdue invoice due you.

Tell the person behind you in line at the grocery store about your business.

Contact that influential person who intimidates you and tell them who you are and what you do.

FRIDAY, August 29
Get ready to do your August books. Gather your receipts and your invoices. Get everything in place to do your books for August.

We will send you five more things to do to build your business next week!
