Pam Takes 2 Days Off. What?
Yes you heard it right. Pam took 2 days off for her birthday last month! This was the first time since she joined the Path to Wellness team, two years ago, that Pam has taken any time off! That's right people NO sick days! (Maintenance Chiropractic Care). We are so blessed to have Pam as a part of our team, and are happy that Pam finally took a few days off to celebrate her birthday. |

Way to Go Rangers!
Your Texas Rangers see their Chiropractor too!
"I've been trying everything with this thing," Rangers MVP Josh Hamilton said. "I've been doing treatment here, chiropractic, acupuncture, hypobaric chamber. I am doing everything I possibly can for it." Hamilton did not play the outfield during the three-game series in Kansas City while dealing with knee pain. He returned as the DH on Friday, but left that game early because of tightness in his lower back that required a quick post-game chiropractic adjustment.

News from Dr. Lauren
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! We know what a busy time the next six weeks will be for everyone. Lots of parties and shopping and family time...Lots of
"finish the year" work and plenty of stress. With that in mind, I want to give you a number of different ways through your relationship with Path To Wellness Chiropractic to keep your life flowing in a calm and natural manner.
Get an adjustment - If you have not been in for a while, give yourself the treat of an adjustment. There are so many reasons to maintain your monthly adjustments, but one of the biggest is that being adjusted on regular basis will greatly lower your chances of migraines and absolutely assist in reducing your stress levels.
Our Holiday Detox Program - For the second year, I have decided to offer our special 21-day Purification Program at an extremely reduced rate. Why make your holidays worse? We tend to eat way worse when we are extremely busy and stressed out? Why gain weight during this holiday season? Why eat nothing but "bad" when you can make the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the healthiest, most productive of your life? Get a headstart to starting 2011 off right! Check out the article below for all the information about our program.
Fill your vitamin cabinet - From now until Christmas, we are offering a 10% discount on all our Standard Process Vitamins. This is your chance to get those products needed to keep you healthy and feeling great. Not sure what to purchase? When you get your adjustment, be sure and ask me. We can discuss all your special needs. We have more than 50 different vitamin products that can assist you on your Path to Wellness.
Our Holiday Can Drive - Ok, we can make your spine feel better...we can make your body feel better... so how about your heart? We can help with that too. It's our third annual can drive to assist the Tarrant County Food Bank. Please stop by and drop off as much as you can.
Orthotic Scanning - We are at the beginning of the Marathon Season. Thanks to Lukes Locker, the Fort Worth Runners Club and all the races in the area we sponsor, so many of our patients are active runners. If you are not using a quality pair of Orthotics, you are doing your spine and your feet a major disservice. Please stop by and get a free Orthtic Scan. We have the highest quality soft Orthotics available and at amazing rates. Plus, it some instances, your insurance might even cover a portion of the cost. Get with Olivia or Pam to discuss.
There is no question that with Thanksgiving comes the Flu and Cold season. Please be sure and read our article about the care needed to reduce your families chances of getting sick.
Another great article in this months newsletter centers on the issue of Migraines. As I previously mentioned, with the Holiday Season comes the dreaded Migraine Headaches. Most people do not realize that Chiropractic care can greatly reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches.
This Holiday Season, I ask that each of you take a moment and reflect on yourself, your friends, and family. We each spend so much time "doing," that we seem to find ourselves in rut after rut. If I had one wish, it would be the wish of Good Health. That is why I choose to become a Chiropractor. So please, make your choice... schedule an appointment today... get on a monthly maintenance schedule and please... at each appointment, bring a family member or friend and introduce them to the wonders of Chiropractic care and especially to Path To Wellness Chiropractic. Make time for routine workouts, and take time to prepare and eat a healthy diet.
When you think about the fact that only 10% of the population sees a Chiropractor, and each of you understands the positive effects Chiropractic Care brings to you, why not share that with one new person each month? And don't forget, we will make it easier for you to remember by offering you special discounts for the referrals.
As you will read below, on October 22, I lost my dog and our mascot Bruin. He made each day better for all that came to the office. I miss him tremendously.
I want to wish each of you and all your families a healthy and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday.
Yours in better health, Dr. Lauren

We know this is a challenging time of the year to spend 21-days purifying your body, but we believe in you! We believe you can and we are here to help you on your path to great health and wellness! Each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we dedicate ourselves to getting as healthy as possible. That is why we choose these 21 days to PURIFY and CLEANSE our bodies with the "Path to Wellness - Standard Process Purification/Detox Program. "Of all the programs I have either studied or tried, the Standard Process is the most superior," says Dr. Roberson. "It is the only detox program that I recommend.
Are you still thinking "but why should I do this?"
Detoxification helps you remove toxins from your body while assisting in maintaining or getting to your desired weight. We are exposed to toxins everyday and detoxing offers your body additional support to expel toxins and minimize your weight. Just as important as what happens to your body during the 21 days, this program teaches you the proper way to eat. The proper way to use food for sustenance rather than for taste. Image being able to start 2011 with an entire to way of eating your body to better health. The Standard Process 21-day Program centers on what you eat. Your diet will include supplements and whole foods that contain vitamins, minerals and other nutrients to support all your major organ systems during the detox. In addition, we will show you a variety of exercises that will support your health during this program. So here's the deal. Join our Family for this 21 day detox program. We will kick it all off, Monday evening, November 29th at the Path to Wellness Chiropractic office. We'll all take measurements; get weighed; set goals for ourselves; meet others and create a support team for each other. It's so important to have a support team so bring your spouse, co-worker, mom, dad, bring anyone that is wanting to get healthy and feel better.
As an incentive to join us in the Program, we are offering the entire program - supplements, weekly meetings, receipts, all the paperwork, your 21 day diary and daily newsletters that will greatly assist you in getting through the program at a discounted rate. Normally $225, if you join us in this 21-day excursion by November 22, you will get 10% off. We are only allowing this special for the first 20 people so don't wait sign up today!
This program is for us all. We want you to join us. We want to be your Path to Wellness and assist you to a healthier way of life. |
Cold & Flu Eeewww!
Would you rather be healthy or just feel good? You can be healthy and still not feel well. Coughing, sneezing, headaches, aches and pain are not the result of a lack of medication. Fevers, diarrhea, and other symptoms are natural ways your body responds to infection and disease. These are just a few of the many symptoms associated with colds and flu. A traditional medical approach has been to treat symptoms by using drugs to numb, slow down, or to speed up the malfunctioning body part(s). It surprises many patients when they discover chiropractic doctors focus, instead, on the underlying cause of their symptoms. Correcting the cause, allows the body to eliminate symptoms of ill-health naturally. Judging your health by how you feel can be dangerous. The first symptom of high blood pressure is often a deadly stroke. The first symptom of heart disease could be a fatal heart attack. Because you body is so adaptive, by the time many symptoms warn you of a problem, it can be well advanced. Chiropractic adjustments can help stimulate a positive immune system response, helping your body fight against invading organisms. The proper function of your nervous system, which is the key to good health, is our primary interest. Self-Care Techniques for Colds and Flu- Rest. Listen to your body. If you feel the need to rest or sleep, do so. Though regular exercise can boost your immune system, during a cold or flu it may be wise to lighten or skip your usual workout or exercise program depending on the severity of your condition.
- Drink plenty of water. Drink one half you body weight in ounces of water every day. For example, a 200-pound man should drink 100 ounces of water daily. When you have a cold or flu, increase that number by 20%. You can also drink clear soup broths or diluted vegetable juices.
- Minimize sugar intake. Sugar, even if derived from natural sources like fruit juice and honey, can impair immune function. Keep sugar to a maximum of 50 grams per day.
- Maintain a positive attitude. At the most, your cold or flu will last three to seven days, so follow these guidelines and allow your body to fix itself.
- See your chiropractor for frequent chiropractic adjustments, maximizing you nervous system function, stimulating your immune system response and allowing your body to heal itself.

, Bruin 3-2-2009 to 10-22-2010On Friday, October 22 2010, Bruin, the Path to Wellness Mascot, passed away. Bruin became the mascot April 2009. Bruin loved to come to the office and was not satisfied with just being in the records room. Nope, he needed to be out in the waiting room so that he could watch the patients come and go. Making sure that their experience at Path to Wellness was a great one. Bruin could always bring a smile to every ones face, whether it be patients or just people walking by that spotted him out for a bathroom break! Bruin especially loved little kids and loved to see them in the office. If he could hear them he would push on the door with those big ears perked up and let you know he needed to go check on the patients! If Bruin was absent from the office everyone noticed and wanted to know where he was. He brought so much joy to the office. Bruin will be greatly missed. Dr. Lauren really misses her companion.

Thanksgiving Facts Hear are some fun facts that are sure to impress everyone at the Thanksgiving Table
It was not until 1941, that congress declared Thanksgiving as a national holiday. It was declared to be the fourth Thursday in November.
Here's one of those funny Thanksgiving facts: Turkeys have heart attacks. When the Air Force was conducting test runs and breaking the sound barrier, fields of turkeys would drop dead.
Fossil evidence shows that turkeys roamed the Americas 10 million years ago.
91% of Americans eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day. There are regional differences as to the "stuffing" (or "dressing") traditionally served with the turkey. Southerners generally make theirs from cornbread, while in other parts of the country white bread is the base. One or several of the following may be added: oysters, apples, chestnuts, raisins, celery and/or other vegetables, sausage or the turkey's giblets.
Fifty percent of Americans put the stuffing inside the Turkey.
More than 40 million green bean casseroles are served on Thanksgiving.
Twenty percent of cranberries eaten are eaten on Thanksgiving.
The 'wishbone' of the turkey is used in a good luck ritual on Thanksgiving Day.

New Faces at Path to Wellness
As many of you know there is a couple new faces around the office. Olivia and Darcy joined the Path to Wellness team this summer. So its time to learn a little bit about them and what they do around the office.
Olivia is the first face you see when you walk into the office. She joined the office in August. Born in Durango, Mexico and raised here in Fort Worth; Olivia is always busy either here at the office of at home with her boys, Angel (3yrs), Ezequiel III (1yr) and her husband Ezequiel who is a handful. Ha Ha! Olivia loves working at Path to Wellness, she understands how hectic life is and will always try to find an appointment suited for your life style. Next time you come in to our office she will be waiting for you with a big smile.
Darcy is in and out of the office. She is currently doing the marketing and will soon be joining Dr. Roberson as an associate doctor. Darcy graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in August 2010. Prior to chiropractic school she attended Fort Hays State University where she graduated with her Bachelor's in Diagnostic Imaging. Darcy worked in Omaha, Ne. as an x-ray tech. While working with patient's she realized she wanted to do more to help them. Taking their x-rays and never knowing what happened was something that really bothered her. She then decided she wanted to do more to help people, but how? After going to her chiropractic appointment (something she had done for years) and talking to the doctor about his patients she decided to look more at chiropractic. Not from a patient stand point but from a doctor stand point. After many hours of observation Darcy decided Chiropractic was how she could dedicate her life to helping people.
Darcy is originally from Nelson, Nebraska. Nelson is a small town (500 people) in south central Nebraska. Darcy was born and raised on a farm. While growing up Darcy enjoyed showing horses, cattle, sheep, and pigs. She always loved animals and in March will be starting the animal chiropractic program at Parker College of Chiropractic. Darcy's parents still live in Nelson. She has one sister and bother-in-law that live in Omaha Ne. She also has a Boxer named Munice.

Condition of the Month
Migraine Headaches
Common migraine is a disorder involving recurrent headaches, which may be accompanied by symptoms other than headache but which rarely include a preliminary warning (called an aura). Migraine headaches affect about 6 out of 100 people. They are a common type of chronic headache. They most commonly occur in women and usually begin between the ages of 10 and 46. In some cases, they appear to run in families. Migraines occur when blood vessels of the head and neck spasm or constrict, which decreases blood flow to the brain. Minutes to hours later, the blood vessels dilate (enlarge), resulting in a severe headache. Inflammation around the blood vessels also occurs in some cases. Common migraine may be accompanied by symptoms other than headache but only rarely includes any preceding symptoms (aura). Migraines may also appear as classic migraine (a migraine preceded by other symptoms) and other rare forms. Multiple mechanisms trigger the spasm and subsequent blood vessel dilation.
Many people don't know that different types of headaches have different symptoms associated with them. Here are a few of the symptoms that can be involved with a migraine headache.
Throbbing pulsating pain
vertigo (dizziness)
nausea
fatique
loss of appetite
vomiting
neck pain
Chiropractic care works on correcting the underlying causes of headaches and relieving symptoms associated with migraines. To see if chiropractic may be able to help you, or someone you know who may be suffering from migraine headaches call us for a consultation.

Letter of the month.
We want to hear from you...please!!!
Each newsletter we will publish one of the many notes or letters we get from our patients. Have something to say, please send us your thoughts about Path To Wellness. You might just see yourself in print.
My son and I have been taking Martical Arts together for over 4 years. Niko, 8 and I, 35, train weekly at Fort Worth Judo Club and Travis Lutter Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Several years back I was involved in a car accident and suffered a herniated disk in my lower back. It was suggested that I look into surgery. I said, "no way," and chose therapy along with adjustments. I guess you could say I still have the disk issue; but you would never know. I continue to see the staff at Path to Wellness for my aches and pain.
Niko has developed into a champion and is currently #2 Judoka in Texas and #5 Judoka in the Nation. Niko is also a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and won his first competition. Recently, Niko began to suffer from neck and back pain. Without a doubt in my mind I signed him up with Dr. Lauren Roberson and he is as good as new.
