4 Great reasons to continue your care

Continue Your Progress. Research shows that ligaments and muscles supporting the spine take longer to heal than the pain or symptoms last.  Continuing care encourages your spine to heal completely and faster than on-again, off-again treatments.

Prevent a relapse.  Without continued chiropractic care, your muscles and vertebrae will return to their unhealthy positions.  Part of the corrective care phase retrains and strengthens muscles to assume a more correct position.

Save money.  Regular chiropractic checkups help avoid the expense of having to correct preventable problems.

Feel good.  Continuing your chiropractic care will help your body operate at its maximum level, enabling you to feel better and have more energy so you can more readily enjoy life.

Happy Holidays from Path To Wellness Chiropractic.  I hope this Holiday Season brings you happiness and good health.  Please know we are here for you.

I want to take a second and thank each of you for making 2009 such a wonderful year.  When I decided to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, my goal was to create a clinic that assisted my patients to better health.  I am proud of my first 18 months and will continue to strive to a higher level of excellence for each of you.

We've kicked off our December Detox program and it seems a huge success.  We have 14 clients taking part in this 21 days of purification.  We hope that with this initial kick-off we will be able to offer this outstanding program a minimum of 4 times per year.  Please note, to get the best results from a detox program, you should do it twice a year.  If any of you are interested in starting after the Holidays, please let us know.  We have a number of patients that could not detox between Thanksgiving and Christmas and will probably begin a program in early January.

Business Appreciation -- Over the last 18 months, I have come to realize how important it is for Path to Wellness Chiropractic to bring the message of better health through Chiropractic to as many people as possible.  With that in mind, we have created what I think is an excellent program for your office.  During a lunch hour, we will come to your location, serve lunch and offer a free spinal screening and postural analysis.  Whether you own a business, have responsibility for human resources or are an employee at a company of 10 or more, we'd like to offer you this wonderful benefit.  Please contact Steven at the office and he will give you the complete details.

I know this can be a very busy time for most of you.  Both at home and work, we seem to forget those precious few seconds we need for ourselves.  Please, be selfish for just a few seconds each day.  Take some time to unwind and breathe.  You have no idea just how much this will help through this time of year.

Food Drive --
As you know, November started our annual Food Drive.  We ask for your help.  We are collecting food for the Homeless.  Please bring in canned goods.  We will have boxes available for drop-off and will deliver your donations to the Tarrant County Food Bank.

Finally, I cannot think of a better gift for the Holiday season than a gift certificate for an initial consultation, exam and x-rays at Path to Wellness Chiropractic.  Whether for your kids teachers or that special friend, you can give the gift of better health.  Ask Karen for a Gift Certificate the next time you are in or give her a call and we will send them to you.
Yours in better health,

Dr. Lauren

NOT EVERYONE IS THIS LUCKY...IT'S OUR ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE

Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to be in their home cooking a fantastic meal for the holidays.  Many are without.  Without a home; without a meal; without a family.  At Path To Wellness Chiropractic we want to help make this a better Holiday Season for those that might not be able to totally help themselves.  With that in mind, we are asking each of you to bring whatever canned goods you feel comfortable delivering to the office.  It might be one...it might be 100, no matter, we just ask for your support.

Please help us...help others.  All the donations will be delivered to the Tarrant County Food Bank prior to December 20th.  Whether you have an appointment or not, stop on by and help us out.  We would appreciate it.

"Kim and I would like to thank you for helping us make it to and getting thru the 1/2 marathon in San Antonio. I don't know about Kim, but I know that there would have been no way that I could have done it without you and your program. Again, thank you."     Jim

This is one cool letter.  So many of our patients are runners and we love to hear how Chiropractic is helping.  This was Kim and Jim's first half marathon, so congratulations to them and to all that ran in San Antonio.

Condition of the Month

Stress...
 Oh my!!!

The Holidays. Shopping. Traffic Jams.  Paying Bills.  Deadlines. Pesky neighbors.  These unpleasant or challenging situations create stress in our lives.  So why is it some people deal with these stress situations better than others?  The answer is complex and includes many factors from genetics to weather conditions, but an interesting study in The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics indicates that there is a relationship between chiropractic and the effect it can have on dealing with stress situations in your life.
This study revealed that nearly one in three patients viewed their lives as moderately to severely stressful, and more than 50% felt that stress had a moderate to severe impact on their health problems.  Additionally, 71% of the patients indicated that it would be helpful if their chiropractor offered advice to help them cope with these stressful situations.
Communicating with your chiropractor about dealing with stress is the starting point, and you might be surprised to find that your chiropractor is full of sound advice on ways to effectively deal with stress in your life.  Most people know that improving nerve and spinal function has a dramatic impact on improving emotional, mental and physical function.  Getting the most out of your chiropractic care may include talking to your chiropractor about effective strategies to deal with the stress in your life, so be sure to inform your chiropractor about your personal situation so your Doctor of Chiropractic can help you improve your health and wellness at maximum levels.
Treatment
Chiropractic involves touch; this factor alone sets the stage for release of muscular tension. Adjustments to the spine and surrounding musculature will help release so much tension. The adjustments help the fatigue or stress by removing nerve irritation, releasing muscular tension and improving blood circulation.

Don't stop working out.  No matter how busy you might be, 30 minutes of cardio a day will help releave so much tension.

Breathe.  You've heard the line "Stop and smell the Roses?"  To cold right now, so just breathe.  Feel yourself tensing up...breathe.  Deep and slow.  And then make an appointment to see us.

 SUPPLEMENT OF THE MONTH
I really believe in using supplements to enhance your diet.  It is a perfect addidtion to your training and work with us here at Path To Wellness Chiropractic.  We hope that by introducing you to some of these products you will make an appointment to discuss your nutrition and how we can assist in that area.  We carry a full line of vitamins, herbs and supplements and look forward to offering these items to you at terrific prices.
Glucosamine Synergy - For Healthy joints

The connective tissue between any two bones creates a joint.  Our bones are joined together in ways that depend upon movement and load bearing requirements.  In order for the parts of our muscularskeletal system to move efficiently, the muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartiliage and bone must interact effectively with their neuromuscular partners.  In order for joints to remain fully functional, they require connective tissue to help keep them stable and lubricated.  Glucosamine synergy keeps you healthy in this area.

Glucosamine is an amino sugar that is made in the body and involved in forming nails, tendons, skin, eyes, bones, ligaments and heart valves.  Glucosamine Sulfate is the supplemental form that can help the body in normal repair and rebuilding cartilage.  Boswellia serrata extract can help maintain healthy joint tissue.  Calcium helps keep bone tissue strong.

What makes glucosamine unique --
Supports connective tissue and the natural healing process in the joints

A must for anyone with joint discomfort.

More and more of our runners are getting Kinesio Taped prior to racing.  it is a simple process and the cost is just $20.  Taping will normally last 3 to 5 days even with showering.  It is important to remember to shave the part of your body being taped prior to your appointment at the office.

Dr. Lauren has stocked the office with this wonderful product.  Make an appointment to have her give you a test taping.  It is amazing the comfort you will feel while running or working out.  Even better, you look cool.

Little known fact of the Month --
Are you getting the right
balance in your life?

Compared to 25 years ago, the typical family puts in 1,000 more hours a year at work and more than 8 million of us work two or more jobs.  So it's no wonder that finding a balance between work and life is precarious.

But balance is essential to our well-being and our ability to perform well at home and at work.  Here are five ways to get a better footing:

Simplify.  Need help with housecleaning?  Consider hiring a cleaning person once a week.  Feel like you don't have time?  Say "no" to things you don't want to do or don't have time to do.  Don't make commitments unless they're important to you.

Be grateful.  Even in the midst of the most hectic and stressful  times of  life, there are things for which we can be thankful.  Reflecting on the good things in our lives helps keep an all-important balance in our outlook.

Be a kid and play.  Get down in the dirt and help the kids make mud pies, watch a movie with them, have a long chat over coffee with your teen. Give your family one-on-one time.

Pay attention to yourself.  If you don't stay healthy, you'll be less able to handle the stress of work and home.

Stop procrastinating.  It takes more energy fretting over not doing a project than actually doing it.  So save your energy for better things and just get started.
