Did you know that only 8% of the American population uses Chiropractic? Just how amazingly silly is that? Of those that do, some have only minor complaints; some suffer from more major issues. But the most surprising thing is that very few come to a chiropractor for anything other than back pain. And when most do, they come to Chiropractors as a last resort rather than a preventitive one. It's tough enough to be ill or in pain, but to also be unfamili ar with an amazing method that could very possibly help... most people just live with the pain or try everything else.
It is for this reason that we have decided to focus this months newletters on the different conditions that we believe can be benefitted from coming to see us. I just think people really don't understand the benefit of seeing a chiropractor. It is mostly because they don't know what Chiropractic is or how fantastically it can help. Next time you are with a group of people, ask them questions about Chiropractic...see how many know little to nothing or are completely fearful about the wrong things.
Since the day I decided to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, I have focused on trying to educate my patients and the public on the wonderful accomplishments of Chiropractic. IT WORKS and has the potential to improve the health of so many people. I know most of you already know this, but we need to get the word out to everyone. At the Home and Garden Show this weekend, I was speaking to a very nice woman that stopped by our booth. She definitely needed the services of a Chiropractor, but when we discussed making an appointment her response was, "I spoke to my doctor about it. He said no Chirporactor can help and if I don't get better we will just do surgery." Can you imagine in this day and age a doctor saying that to a patient?
So take a minute and read below. This month we have focused on "Why to see a Chiropractor." We also have a very good article dealing with sitting at your desk all day.
One other quick note -- when you get to the bottom of the newsletter you will see our new "Be a Good Friend" Program. I hope it will be a good reminder to let your friends and FAMILY know about Path To Wellness.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend...l look forward to hearing from each of you. pathtowellnesschiro@gmail.com
Yours in better health,
Dr. Lauren |

Condition of the Month
Don't let office work become a pain in your neck!!!
If you're not careful, slouching at a desk all day or tapping away at a computer keyboard can lead to painful and disabling strains in your wrists, shoulders, elbows, and back. We want you to turn over a new leaf, and follow some simple advice that will make life more enjoyable and less painful.
We used to believe that occupations like construction caused most on-the-job injuries, however, someone who works at a computer is putting considerable stress on their wrists, shoulders, neck and spine, and this can cause some really painful work-place injuries. Repetitive motion injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome have become increasingly prevalent in recent years, as more and more people spend long hours in front of a computer screen.
It's not just the administrative assistant who uses a computer, most corporate executives spend their work day in front of a computer, too. When the work day ends, many people go home and 'surf the net' for hours on their own PC's." Carpal tunnel syndrome alone affects approximately 230,000 people every year and accounts for nearly half of all workplace illnesses, costing the country nearly $800 million in health care benefits and rehabilitation. Other injuries include low back pain, postural and spinal stress, and tendinitis-conditions that can affect a person's work, as well as make life painful.
To reduce the possibility of suffering one of these painful and possibly disabling injuries, we make the folllowing suggestions: 1. Make sure your chair fits correctly. There should be 2 inches between the front edge of the seat and the back of your knees. Ideally, the chair should tilt back so you can rest while you're reading what's on the screen. 2. Sit with your knees at approximately a 90 to 120-degree angle. Using an angled foot rest to support your feet may help you sit more comfortably. 3. Position your computer monitor so the top of the screen is at or below eye level, with adequate lighting and no glare. 4. Keep your wrists in the neutral position, not angled up or down, while you type. A wrist rest can help. 5. Take periodic stretch breaks. 6. The best suggestion we can give is throw that chair away and go buy a "big ball" to sit on. It will force you into better posture positions and save you plenty of hours of pain.
Finally, make sure your spouse or significant other gives you a great massage every night. |

OK, maybe we can't get you completely in the hammick, but we have a great offer for you... JUST BE A FRIEND!!
If you read my letter above, you know how important I believe Chiropractic can be to just about any person. From health issues to nutrition balance; from pain to just having a better life, Chiropractic can honestly help everyone.
With that in mind, we are giving you the opportunity to not onky be a GOOD FRIEND, but be able to make a little extra cash on the side. And while it might not be enough to get you to the beach on the right, your firends and I will thank you and make you feel like you are there.
So here is how it works... it's as easy as 1-2-3.
1. The next time you are in the office, ask Pam about our "BE A GOOD FRIEND" Program. If you are not currently coming in, (why not?) you can just give her a call and she will mail you the info.
2. Pam will give you an envelope containing 3 special Path To Wellness buisness cards. Fill out the back of them.
3. Give them to three friends that you believe need to stop by and see Dr. Lauren
And finally, when all three come in for their first appointments, we will send you $50 in cash. Don't like cash? We have other gifts just for you. What a great way to make a few bucks... giving your friends the gift of Chiropractic. It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Give a listen
Every Sunday morning from 8a to 10a on 103.3FM ESPN, my friend, Steven Gribin hosts a great golf show. Over the past few months I have been doing a question and answer segment at 9:15am. It has been so much fun. It has given me the chance to meet a number of the PGA Tour Players and I even got to go to Augusta for The Masters.
I hope you will give a listen. Send me some questions to answer. But no laughing.
