requests for the life and mission of the church:

January Series: Counterfeit Gods
The
empty promises of money, sex, & power and the only hope that matters .In a decade marked by
financial and moral scandals, terrorist attacks and the worst economic downturn
since the Depression, many Americans are reconsidering who and what they really
need. Why do we pursue money, sex and power, but come away feeling empty? Can
we be free of their pervasive influence? Join us as we consider these
culture-shaping influences and what the Bible has to say about them. |
Leadership Council Nominations
The
new term of Leadership Council Members will consist of 5 existing Leadership
Council members, the Senior Pastor and 3 new members that are nominated by the
membership of Apostles. Leadership
Council Nomination Forms will be available in the Church Lobby starting January
10th and also available on the Apostles Website. The Form has guidelines for Members of the
Leadership Council and asks you to be very specific in your reasons for
nominating a particular person. The
Nominations will be reviewed by a seven person Leadership Discernment Team
consisting of Chris Judy, John Wilson, Marian Troxler, Sam Bass, Judy
Batchelder, Bruce Berger and Ed Bailey. The chosen slate of 3 persons will then
be presented to the Leadership Council for approval. Finally, we will have a Church wide meeting
for the membership to approve the slate by voice vote. The Nomination Forms must be received at
the Church Office no later than January 23rd. A Nomination Form can be found here.

Devotional Guides for Adults
A
key part of our vision here at Apostles is to help "build up the
found", and one way we would like to do that is by beginning to make a
daily devotional guide called "Explore" available for you. This
book is an excellent resource for your daily quiet time. Each day it
guides you through a different passage of Scripture, and provides insights and
thought provoking questions on how to apply the truths of that Scripture to
your life.
So, if you have struggled to make daily Bible reading and prayer a part of your
life, or if you would like some more structure in your times with Lord, please
stop by the information table in the lobby to purchase one this coming Sunday.
(Explore is published quarterly and costs $5).
