Greetings!
On July 20th the Board of Directors of the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS® will host a Summer Outing open for all members to attend! I am pleased to bring back the tradition of a membership-wide summer event and the Alpine Country Club will be the perfect setting to enjoy networking, refreshments and summer fun by the pool!
Our 13th Annual Charity Golf Classic will be held on July 20th at the Alpine Country Club! This year, working with the club management, our committee members were able to keep the cost low and the value high! We still have opportunities for golfers to register and if you are interested in sponsoring a tee sign or making a contribution, please call the Board office at (401) 274-8383 or click here.
Don't miss our RPAC event on Thursday, July 23rd! The event will be held at The Pinata Center/La Tiendita on 300 Broadway in Providence. Complimentary refreshments will be served and family and friends are welcome!

| Regulatory Update:
DBR's New Requirements |
The RI Department of Business Regulation has adopted several changes that affect real estate licensees. These changes were the result of numerous public hearings and recommendations from the Real Estate Commission.
Some of the important changes include:
Increase Continuing Education from 18 credit hours to 24 Credit Hours. These hours must be completed by April 30, 2010. Six hours of core course work is necessary. New core courses have been approved for credit.
To acquire a broker's license, 90 hours of continuing education is required, which does not include the 45 hours of sales pre-licensing class. The license requirements must be satisfied within four years of initial application.
A manager may now list and sell while managing multiple branch offices.

Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. RPAC contributions are voluntary and used for political purposes. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal or otherwise affecting your membership rights. 70% of your contribution goes to your State Association to support state and local political candidates. 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates against your limits under 2 U.S.C. 441a.

Trying to get a number of individuals or groups together to conduct business is not always easy, but Connex International can help. Based in Connecticut, Connex's "Meet Now" program offers toll-free teleconferencing with no minimum, setup fees or contracts and low rates 24/7.
This is how it works. I need to discuss some specifics with my sellers, the buyers and a few other parties at 4:00 p.m. on July 1st but not everyone can be at my office at that time. So I set up a teleconference using Connex. As the leader, or moderator, of this meeting, I would be assigned a moderator number. My scheduled conference is also assigned a conference ID, which I provide to the sellers, buyers and participating parties along with an (800) number. At the designated time and date, everyone would dial that number and enter the PIN. I would also call in and enter my moderator number. We would then all be joined together and would be able to conduct the business at hand.
Following, I would receive a report which itemizes the charges for me, including how many individuals joined the call and the number of minutes. There's also the capacity to have the call recorded and Connex offers other services to allow, for example, Powerpoint presentations to be viewed by the participating parties during the teleconference.
