Victoria Doran, GRI |
Greetings!
This past month, the National Association of REALTORS® hosted our Mid-Year Meetings in Washington, DC. I traveled with other RI REALTORS® to our nation's capitol to represent your interests before our RI Congressmen and Senators. We were fortunate to be able to meet with all four members of our delegation and I am very pleased to report that they were all very receptive to our concerns. In fact, just this past week, Senator Reed, a key member of the Senate Banking Committee, was very instrumental in ushering in bi-partisan approved reforms that would allow FHA to insure up to $30 Billion in loans that lenders agree to write down so that the current borrowers can continue to afford to stay in their homes. This measure will also assist in strengthening the federal regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, allowing these government sponsored entities (GSEs) to continue to provide stability and affordability in the housing market. Please help us get our message out by resonding to Calls For Action from NAR. These are notices emailed to you from our REALTOR® Action Center. I encourage you to learn more about our advocacy agenda at www.realtor.org.
The Greater Providence Board of REALTORS® is recognizing June as Homeownership Month by co-presenting two workshops with Housing Network of RI to assist homeowners who may be in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure. On Tuesday, June 17, 2008 these workshops, one in English and one in Spanish, will be presented to homeowners at the Casey Family Services Center. This is a free-of-charge service offered through our alliance with the Housing Network of RI and its Partners. If you know anyone who could benefit from this seminar, please refer them to the Board Office for additional information.
I am pleased to announce that we have just launched our new website, www.gpbor.com! The website offers all the valuable membership information you need and will be a great resource to you regarding important announcements and upcoming events! The website offers access to MLS for REALTORS® and RILIVINGis available to members of the public that want to take advantage of this feature. Our Affiliate Directory is available to guide you to the valuable services of our Affiliate members and you can also take advantage of online learning!
Summer is nearly here and I wish you a very happy and productive June!
Sincerely-
Victoria E. Doran
2008 President, GPBOR

| Technology Tip
From Michael Pereira
Chair, GPBOR Tech Committee |
You CAN Send It!
As a real estate professional incorporating technology into your business, you may find yourself emailing clients or colleagues with large attachments, such as photos and contracts, that bounce back to you due to their size. A friend of mine, who is a real estate administrator, recently told me about You Send It. This is a web-based subscription program available to individuals, businesses and corporations. It enables you to send, receive and track files, particularly large ones, and is convenient and secure. My friend recently attempted to send out an email with a 38MB attachment. Her program returned it as undeliverable but it was then sent successfully through You Send It, which can send and receive files up to 2 GB. You Send It can be branded to your business and has the capacity to deploy file delivery to multiple users in an organization. For more information, including the ability to sign up for a 2-week free trial, click here. |
