Greater Providence
Board of REALTORS®
Volume 2, Issue 3
March 2008
President's Message
Victoria Doran, GRI

Greetings!

Since the beginning of my presidency, I have been eagerly anticipating the month of March! Not just because we know Spring is right around the corner - but because March is the month we traditionally celebrate with our fellow REALTORS® at our Circle of Sales Excellence Awards Gala! This year, we have chosen March 20th to gather at Rhodes-on-the Pawtuxet for an evening of Parti-GRAS!  I am so excited about the response this year and I am looking forward to a wonderful turnout at the event!  I would like to thank our Awards Chair, Ann Shackford, for yet another wonderful job! Ann is responsible for ushering in changes to make the application process easier and for bringing everything together so smoothly this year! Thanks Ann!

I would also like to thank our individual and corporate sponsors who have generously contributed to our Circle of Sales Excellence Awards Gala! Without the support of these fine businesses we would not be able to deliver the kind of quality events we offer throughout the year!

On the educational front, please note that the Department of Business Regulation has now mandated that a 3 credit agency course be completed by April 30, 2008 by all real estate licensees.  The Greater Providence Board of REALTORS® is offering several opportunities to meet this requirement. Your support of our local Board programming makes it possible for us to continue offering valuable educational opportunities!

I look forward to seeing you on March 20th!

Sincerely,

Vicki

Technology Tip from Michael Pereira, Chair
GPBOR Tech Committee
Mike Pereira
Now you can read your voice mail!

On February 13th, the Technology Committee hosted a panel discussion about the business advantages of using a 'smartphone'. One of the features that Mindy Lane, a co-presenter, shared with the group was a product called Simulscribe. I found this very innovative and I think this is information worth passing along to you.

Simulscribe is a service that allows you to convert your voice mails to text messages and sends them directly to your mobile phone, PDA or email account. Whether you are in a closing, at a showing or spending some quality downtime, you can access and sort your voice mails with ease!

The service is reasonably priced at $29.95 per month for unlimited messages. If you are not interested in a monthly plan, you can subscribe for $.35 per message.

Simulscribe is big on customer service and offers 24/7 service and support.
