One Actor. One Audience Member. One BLIND DATE
"The further away you are from a dance floor when you ask a woman to dance, the more romantic it is. Ask me to dance in a gravel pit and I will give you my panties." - Mimi (Blind Date)
Winner of 'Best Live Comedic Play, Revue or Series' and "Best Female Improviser' at this year's Canadian Comedy Awards, Rebecca Northan has created one of the most daring and exhilarating undertakings in the scope of contemporary theatre. In Blind Date, you'll experience all of the excitement and awkwardness of love as Mimi, a Parisian temptress, goes on a blind date with a different man every night - plucked right out of the audience. Don't miss what The New York Times described as "Fearless... and very funny." For more information, click here . Tickets are from $17 and may be purchased by visiting tickets.thecultch.com or by calling the box office at 604-251-1363. There's nothing like the thrill of a blind date... anything can happen! Iranian playwright challenges the theatrical art form with White Rabbit, Red Rabbit
"A fascinating deconstruction of the theatrical experience." - 4 stars, The British Theatre Guide
In this post-modern theatre happening, 30-year-old Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour's arresting and allegorical work dissects the experience of a whole generation in this wild, original play. Each night an acclaimed Vancouver actor, who has never before seen or read this play, is handed a sealed envelope. They open it and begin. Neither actor nor audience knows what lies ahead on this metaphorical journey into extreme experience. "The spontaneity of an actor reading a script for the first time and discovering it with the audience gives complete authority and power to the writer's voice, and the way that voices control people is an intrinsic theme in the play," says actor Chris Haydon. Local Vancouver performers include Carmen Aguirre (Sep 19), Kathryn Shaw (Sep 20), James Long (Sep 21), Marcus Youssef (Sep 22), Ryan Beil (Sep 23), Maiko Yamamoto (Sep 25), Peter Anderson (Sep 26), Donna Soares (Sep 27), Jonathan Young (Sep 28), Kevin Loring (Sep 29), Alessandro Juliani (Sep 30, 2pm), and Meg Roe (Sep 30, 8pm).

Places I Want to Be - Maxine Wolodko September 5th - September 30th, 2012
"Each one of these paintings represents a moment in time that I would like to expand, examine and experience fully. Through my artwork I am able spend more time in the places I want to be, fully appreciating the moment and considering what is important." - Maxine Wolodko Lovely Places We've Been - Works by Aleese Nessler September 5th - September 30th, 2012
"When I complete a painting, I feel like I'm back in a windy prairie field, standing in the cold ocean, or up on a mountain looking down. I would be so pleased to have others feel this way as well." - Aleese Nessler
