Die Roten Punkte return to Vancouver with a brand new show!
Described as "a lipstick-smeared, tantrum-loving, sonic collision between B52s, Kraftwerk and early Ramones", Die Roten Punkte are truly unique. Their songs are ridiculously infectious and their live show is one of the most irreverent and hilarious gigs you are ever likely to see. Satiric indie rockers and self-proclaimed 'Best Band in the World,' Die Roten Punkte (The Red Dots) return to The Cultch with their brand new show, Eurosmash!, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, 2012. The riotous evening of rock, punk, and electronic music features International Fringe darlings Otto and Astrid Rot, a pair of squabbling German siblings who punctuate their performance with bouts of petty rivalry and rock star showboating. Cloudscape Comics and Suzy Stroet in The Cultch Gallery
Welcome back to The Cultch Gallery for our new 2012/2013 season. We're kicking things off with a show and book launch by Cloudscape Comics Society and Suzy Stroet! The Cloudscape Comics Society is a coalition of indie comic book artists from Vancouver who publish yearly anthologies and foster a community where BC comic creators can network while developing their craft and continuing to push the boundaries of the comic book medium. The Society's books range in topic from history and travel to cybernetics and humour. Its most recent anthology, Giants of Main Street, was launched at The Cultch gallery opening on August 1. Running alongside Cloudscape Comics, you'll find Suzy Stroet's joyful series of paintings entitled Audience Portraits. Stroet was born and raised in Vancouver and continues to live and work on the west coast. She is an emerging artist whose work focuses on people and how they interact with, and inhabit the spaces they create. Her body of work, Audience Portraits is an examination of the cyclical relationship between performers and their audience.
