The award-winning post-punk musical cabaret comedy sensation is back: Die Roten Punkte plays at The Cultch this summer |
|
|
Equal parts pop concert, clowning, sketch comedy and cabaret, Die Roten Punkte is the continually evolving story of siblings Astrid and Otto Rot, orphaned electro-punk rockers and ostensible darlings of the Berlin underground rock scene.
|
"It's a rock 'n roll concertAnd I'm a rock 'n' roll monsterI can't control my hands and feetWhen I hear that monster beat"-Die Roten Punkte, "Rock and Roll Monster"
This dysfunctional, squabbling, co-dependent pair travel the world with their music and their disconcerting mid-Atlantic accents. At their insistently MEGA concerts, their personalities take a backseat for a moment, to a thumping, leaping, buzzing assault of post-pop-punk RAWK.
Die Roten Punkte (DRP) have featured everywhere from the prestigious Spoleto Festival Charleston USA, to Australian television's most popular and credible music programme, RAGE. They installed a four storey inflatable dinosaur at the Victorian Arts Centre, and hosted a dress-up-like-DRP theme night at Winnipeg.
Die Roten Punkte - Kunst Rock runs from August 2 - 13, 2011 at The Cultch.
Single tickets can be purchased here and begin at just $16!

Celebrating Cultch volunteers

On June 18, The Cultch hosted our annual volunteer barbeque to thank our volunteers for all their hard work during the 10/11 Season. Yaletown Choices Market was kind enough to supply the fantastic food and special thanks go out to the following companies and businesses for their generous prize donations: Escents Aromatherapy, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Grandview Lanes, the Vancouver Aquarium, Museum of Vancouver, Dutch Girl Chocolates, Mogiana Coffee, Memphis Blues Barbeque House and the Georgia Straight.
Our volunteers do so much to ensure that The Cultch continues bringing world-class programming to our local audience. They are invaluable and we extend our eternal thanks to them. If you would like to get involved in the Vancouver arts community,

Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, The Cultch's most recent Artist-in-Residence.

The Cultch is all about fostering creativity. Whether it's music, theatre or dance on our stages, or visual art in our gallery, we want to see artists succeed. Besides programming the incredible talent of local, national and international artists, The Cultch works behind the scenes to encourage artist success.
One way we do this is through our residency program. Residencies at The Cultch offer artists free rehearsal space - often in our Vancity Culture Lab - to focus on developing a project they are working on.
