Storefront Decorating Contest Returns!
You must PRE REGISTER TODAY (11/29/10) or you will not be listed on the judges score card.Simply email Shirar letting her know you want to sign up.
Decorating must be completed by Wednesday 12/01/2010.
Prize structure has been revamped to offer a cash prize (to be used towards marketing/advertising) for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
First Place- $500
Second Place-$300
Third Place-$200
People's Choice-bragging rights
Contest Participation Criteria:
· Pre-Registration
· No Specific Theme beyond "Holiday"
· Decorating Complete by Wednesday 12/01/09
· Judges will visit Downtown Bangor any time (or multiple times) between Wednesday 12/01 and Sunday 12/12. People's Choice (online vote) will take place during the same time period.
· Winners will be announced the week of December 13th.
Storefronts will be Judged Based on the Following Criteria:
GENERAL EFFECT IN PRESENTATION: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded)
The overall effective presentation of the storefront as it appears from the street; Beauty and creativity.
EFFORT & WORKMANSHIP: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded)
The effort undertaken in display design and the craftsmanship in the display creation. Amount of time taken to create the display and detail in design and creation of objects with the effective use of colors and materials.
DISPLAY THEME: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded)
How well the storefront design concept flows together. Is there an obvious theme or cohesiveness to the storefront design?
ORIGINALITY: (Maximum 25 Points Awarded)
The overall creativeness and originality in the storefront design concept.

Downtown Scavenger Hunt 12:00-3:00 PM
This was implemented last year in an effort to increase traffic in stores on the day of the parade and help to minimize the impact of road closures. We are looking for businesses to serve as "Scavenger Hunt Sites". This entails a "hidden" Santa picture in your establishment and punching participants' cards when they find Santa. Participants will be eligible for prizes after finding a set amount of Santas. Sign up by emailing

A Free opportunity for families to have pictures with Santa. Santa's Workshop will be our home base for this campaign and another point of distribution for information on special events etc. We welcome you to drop off materials (flyers, coupons etc) to distribute to attendees.

Due to lack of interest from downtown retailers we are not going to be doing the discount card this year.

The Ice Rink will return to Pickering Square and will open when weather permits
