Get the Edge in Musical Theatre Auditions - A Workshop for ages 10-18

 

When: Wednesdays, April 6 - May 11, 5:30pm to 6:30pm 

 

Where: Sutter Street Theatre, 717 Sutter Street, Folsom

Cost: $120 if registered by March 31, $130 thereafter.

 

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required upon registration.

 

Class size is limited to 15 so register early to guarantee a space.

Synopsis:

This six week workshop will include instruction about the Musical Theater audition process as well as tips and lessons for success!

 

Topics covered will include:

·       theater audition basics

·       preparation techniques

·       resume construction

·       character development

 

Also included will be song study, individual performance work and several mock vocal and dance auditions.

 

Students will be required to furnish a notebook for note taking, a binder for audition materials, a starter song to perform (anything to show what you can do), pencils, dance worthy attire and a smile.

 

At the end of this workshop students will have an understanding of audition basics for musical theater, an audition binder with at least one pre-pared song (with cuts), more confidence, a resume and a notebook containing the theater games we covered. Students will also receive a review card from instructor after the final audition class with notes and progress made throughout the course.

 

About The Instructor:

Jessica Larrick is a graduate of the UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts where she earned her BA in Drama with a Minor in Education and was the first female to graduate with Honors in Stage Management. She was also a proud participant in the UC Irvine NY Satellite Program of 2006 where she lived in New York and trained with some of the amazing Broadway Choreographers, Vocal coaches, Casting agents and Actors. Jessica has over 10 years of experience on and off stage in Educational, Community and Professional Theater and has a passion for teaching. One of the many beautiful aspects of Theater is that we never stop learning. Jessica has worn many theater hats including Actor, Director, Instructor,Stage Manager,Technician, Play Write, Choreographer and Designer. After spending years both performing and observing behind the audition tables with the production staff, Jessica is thrilled to sharing that knowledge with Sutter Street Theatre's young actors.
