"PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE" OPENS THIS FRIDAY
Prisoner of Second Avenue
Stephen Kauffman, Eileen Beaver

Sutter Street Theatre and Kauffmans' Give Us A Hand Productions present Prisoner of Second Avenue.  Written by master playwright Neil Simon (The Odd Couple, They're Playing Our Song, etc.) and directed by Janelle Kauffman,  Prisoner of Second Avenue revolves around the escalating problems of a middle-aged couple living on Second Avenue in New York's Upper East side.  Neil Simon walks a tightrope between comedy and drama in this (at moments dark) comedy.

In the story Mel Edison just lost his job after many years and now he and Edna his wife have to cope with being unemployed at middle age, an intense summer heat wave, a prolonged garbage strike, noisy neighbors, loud sounds emanating from Manhattan streets up to their apartment and even a robbery of their apartment during broad daylight.

Connie Mockenhaupt, Hazel Johnson

Mel eventually suffers a nervous breakdown from the whole affair, and it is up to the loving care of his brother Harry, his sisters and Edna to bring Mel back to a firm reality.

Join us for a special opening night reception with the cast and crew after the show!
