Escanaba in da Moonlight Extended to March 8

Elly Awards
The hilarious comedy Escanaba in Da Moonlight by Jeff Daniels has been extended to March 8.  Sell out performances have had audiences rolling in  the aisles with laughter.

In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, Escanaba in Da Moonlight spins a hilarious tale of humor, horror and heart as the Soady clan reunites for the opening day of deer season at the family's Upper Peninsula camp.

Escanaba in Da Moonlight can be enjoyed on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 4:00pm.  Seating is reserved and reservations are encouraged.  Call (916) 353-1001 to make your reservations.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Special Performance on February 21 
 
Snow White and the PrinceThe charming fairytale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is given some delightful twists in this musical adaptation by Carol Weiss. The production will appeal to both children and adults as satire is used cleverly while keeping the faithfulness of the original tale.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs through March 15 on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00. Seating is reserved and reservations are encouraged by calling (916) 353-1001.
 
There will be a special performance of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs at 4:00pm on Saturday February 21. Following the performance will be a free reception where you can have your picture taken with the some of the Snow White cast and meet Animator Larry Scholl. Some of Larry's Film credits include Disney's Tinker Bell, Mulan, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, and Robot Chicken. Larry will also be autographing his DVD "The Hidden Elements of Cartoon Drawing."
 
Enjoy the reception and DVD signing and then catch the performance of Escanaba in da Moonlight at 8:00pm at the Stage Nine Theatre.
 
During the reception all Animation Art and Memorabilia including Disney, Warner Bro., Dr. Seuss, Jim Shore, Figurines, Light Boxes and Purses will be 25% off.

Performing Arts 

~ Musical Theatre Performance ~ 

Students will work on vocal techniques, dance instruction and acting for the musical. A musical rehearsed in class will be presented at the Stage Nine Theatre.

Maximum 22 students
Friday 3:30 - 5:30pm (7 - 12yr)
Starting January 23, 2009 (Call about joining after the start date) 
$180.00 per 8 Week Session
First musical to be performed is "Planet Zeem, the Musical." Performances are March 13 and 14.
 
~ Scene Study & Improvisation Workshops ~
 

Offering Acting techniques, Scene Study and Monologue work plus Improvisation.  Periodic Showcase Performances featuring the work of the students will be presented.
Instructor - Allen Schmeltz
Maximum 15 students
Friday 3:30 - 5:30 (10-14 yrs) $80 per month (This session is currently full but a waiting list is available)
Saturday 9:00 - 10:00am (7 - 10 yrs) $60.00 per month
Saturday 10:30am - 12:30pm (10 - 14 yrs) $80.00 per month
Workshops are ongoing and students may join anytime.
 
Visual Arts 

Pay fee for Visual Arts Classes by the Friday before the first class and receive a 5% discount!
 
~ Introduction to Painting for Children and Teens ~

Each class is paced to the individual student and students may join at anytime. The Workshop offers an introduction to oil painting techniques with instruction based on the student's ability, experience and age using the award winning technique developed by Mike Jimena.
Instructor - Mike Jimena
Maximum 12 students
Monday 4:00pm - 5:30pm (6-10 yr) $80.00 for a four week session
Tuesday 3:30pm - 5:00pm (10 yr - Teen) $80.00 for a four week session
Tues. classes start Jan. 20, Mon. start Jan. 26
All Painting Classes have an additional supplies fee of $25.00 per four week session. 
 
~ Joy of Painting for Teens through Seniors ~  

A self-paced class for all levels, beginner to experienced, in a fun setting. For mature teens, adults & seniors. Students my start at any time.
Instructor - Mike Jimena
Maximum 12 students
Monday 1:00pm - 3:00pm $100 for a four week session. ($10 discount for seniors for this session only)
Tuesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm $100 for a four week session.
All Painting Classes have an additional supplies fee of $25.00 per four week Session.

RumplestilskinComing in March is the classic tale of Rumplestilskin.  Don't miss this story about a little man who can turn straw into gold but at a very high price.
 
 
 
 
 
And in April we will be presenting the Sondheim Forummusical A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum.  Get you reservations early for what is certain to be a great show.
