With Special Guest Anyen Rinpoche
Anyene RinpocheFINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO NEED IT!*

Santosha Yoga Studio is honoured to host Anyen Rinpoche's return visit to Ottawa Friday April 16 to Sunday April 18 to give teachings on the 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva.  The path of a Bodhisattva is one walked with compassion and the intention of living this life for the benefit of all sentient beings.

These teachings are based on an essential Vajrayana text by Thogme Zangbo and are suitable for those students who have been following this path for a while and those who are just beginning to ask themselves Rinpoche's question "Why are we here?'

All are Welcome.

For those who do not know Anyen Rinpoche he is an esteemed scholar and fifth in an unbroken lineage of heart sons who received their lineage of the Longchen Nyingthig and Dzogchen teachings directly from the renowned Dzogchen master Patrul Rinpoche.  He
currently resides in Denver Colorado and follows in the footsteps of his own root Lama to pass on the wisdom of his lineage, and specifically the teachings on the union of Dzogchen and Bodhicitta.

Anyen Rinpoche is known for his profound understanding of the scriptures as well as his easy-to-understand interpretation of them. He has taught extensively in Tibet and China and now mentors students throught Southeast Asia, Japan and North America. He is also a faculty member at Naropa University in Boulder Colorado in addition to being the author of "The Union of Dzogchen and Bodhichitta", "Momentary Buddhahood" and is currently finishing a new book,  "Dying with Confidence" that will be out in October 2010.

Crystal Bowls
With Jeremy Sills.
Crystal Bowls

~ The 5 elements in sound & movement ~
Crystal & Tibetan Singing Bowls, Drum, and Voice

Beginning in stillness, in silence, introducing the bowls, and inviting the impulse of slow slow slow, breath.....as chimes, and drumming, and melody, we begin to call the soul into carnation....ether, air, fire, water, and earth.....to invite the whole Self into the present moment...giving voice to each element....moving deeper and deeper into the body....sounding the frequencies of the chakras....we then begin to sound our way around the room, with subtle, and gross movements, on the floor, on all fours, standing, swaying, dancing to the Muse,  and freeing the creative artist within each of us...

Jeremy Sills is a gifted Sound Healer and Songwriter.  His mystical healing voice inspires us to remember the deep and silent space within.  As spontaneous co-creations, his crystal bowl concerts weave a tapestry of high vibration frequency, in which profound awareness, transformation and healing can occur.  A trained multi-instrumentalist, Jeremy's cast  includes crystal singing bowls, tibetan metal bowls, eclectic vocals, overtoning, gong, drums, guitar & piano.  He conducts Lunar Vocal Toning Sessions, Kirtan Circles, and Sacred Sound Workshops.  He currently resides in  Ottawa, ON

Intro to Ashtanga Course
With Dan Mendoza
Ashtanga Intro Course

Come join Dan for a perfect 6 week introduction into the Ashtanga Vinyasa system.

Involved in the martial arts at a very young age, Dan found that the three most important aspects of his training and development were: self-discipline, physical and spiritual awareness. After a decade and a half later of martial arts training, in a muay thai/kickboxing class, he was introduced to yoga. He could feel and see those very same aspects he developed (in the martial arts) in the ancient Indian system and immediately embarked on his yogic path.

A series of individual sessions with each one building on the next. This course will lay the foundation for a life-long journey into the practice of Ashtanga yoga.

WEEK 1: Meet the breath, bandhas (locks) and driste (gaze): An introduction and exploration of the core fundamentals of the Ashtanga system and linking them to postures in the Primary Series

WEEK 2: Detailed journey of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) A & B and the full Standing Sequence of the Primary Series

WEEK 3: Flowing through Surya Namaskar A & B and Standing Sequence (with modifications), learning the transitions (jumpthroughs and jumpbacks) between postures and exploring the Finishing Sequence of the Primary Series

WEEK 4: Flowing through Surya Namaskar A & B and Standing Sequence (with modifications), learning the first half of the Seated Sequence and flowing through the Finishing Sequence (with modifications) of the Primary Series

WEEK 5: Flowing through Surya Namaskar A & B and Standing Sequence (with modifications), learning the second half of the Seated Sequence and flowing through the Finishing Sequence (with modifications)

WEEK 6: Putting it all together: An Ashtanga led practice (with modifications) using the traditional vinyasa count and the Sanskrit names of postures of the Primary Series
