Eggs and Issues on Healthcare
| Eggs and Issues on Healthcare in Monroe County will be the topic at the next Chamber networking breakfast this Wednesday, May 2. Sponsored by Stroud and Company, the breakfast will be held at the GA Public Safety Training Center at 7:30 am. Rising Star Student Sponsors Needed
|
As is tradition, the Chamber will host a luncheon recognizing Monroe County Middle School students who have maintained all A's on their report cards throughout the school year. Each student receives a certificate of achievement and a savings bond gift certificate sponsored by a Chamber member business, professional, or organization. The Chamber wishes to thank Oglethorpe Power for their event sponsorship.
Currently 44 students have sponsors with 2 weeks until the awards banquet. There are two sponsorships available including:
- $50 which will display the sponsor's name alongside the students in all marketing material.
- $100 which additionally includes display of a business logo on all marketing material.
For more information or details on becoming a student sponsor please contact the chamber at (478)994-9239 or register online for either option. To ensure your sponsorship is properly displayed in the program and newspaper the deadline for sponsorship has been extended until Friday, May 4.

Bolingbroke Community Club selling Boston Butts for support of the Christmas Parade!

Support the continued success of the annual Bolingbroke Christmas Parade by ordering a Smoked Boston Butt just in time for Mother's Day. A 7-10 pound smoked Boston Butt is $35.00. The pick up date is Thursday, May 10 or delivery arrangements can be made. The Bolingbroke Community Club is a non-profit organization committed to promoting community improvement, social enjoyment and civic Pride. They are very proud to present the annual Bolingbroke Christmas Parade and this is a fund raiser to support that event. | The 9th Annual Noodles For Poodles benefit for Save A Pet, Inc., sponsored by Grits Cafe was cancelled this year due to the tragic fire on March 19, 2012 at Grits Café. This year Save A Pet, Inc. will sponsor a NO "Noodles for Poodles" virtual event during the month of May. Save A Pet, Inc. advocates can make donations to "purchase" a virtual item and continue to support the no-kill rescue's mission. 100% of your donation is tax deductible and directly benefits the dogs. National Day of Prayer on the Courthouse Square

The Ministerial Association invites residents and business owners of Monroe County to join them for a breakfast at 7am at First Baptist Church in Forsyth, then congregate at the courthouse at 12 noon to participate in the National Day of Prayer. The date is Thursday, May 3. We will host a prayer breakfast which is open to the public will be at First Baptist Church that morning at 7:00 AM. Our traditional day of prayer/worship service will be at the courthouse at noon.

NASCAR Champion to Be Auctioned at "Art a la Carte"

Chevrolet Fans prayed for a savior and V-a-r-o-o-m, Rex White answered, becoming one of the winningest drivers in NASCAR history. Now named by NASCAR as one of their Top Greatest Drivers, he is available for a luncheon with questions and answers about NASCAR from past to present. Included in the winning bid are lunch for the bidder and their guest at Prime Palate, an autographed copy of White's autobiography, Gold Thunder, and 4 other motorsports books in a reusable storage container. The benefit is May 5, from 6:00 pm-10:00 pm at Gallery 51 in Forsyth.
Art "happenings" include live music, dancing, food and drink, interactive art, local artists and one-stroke-painting demos. The event will culminate in a "Georgia Icons" live auction with 12 paintings from talented artist members. All will be invited to participate in the silent auction. As the name implies, The Soul Purpose Band is steeped in true Soul/R&B tradition that offers the audience a combination of dance hits and soulful sounds from the 60s to the 80s with an occasional tune from current pop charts.
