Dear Partners, come share the love on Valentine's Day at Monroe County Family Connection's February meeting on Tuesday, February 14 at 12:00 pm at the Prime Palate Restaurant on Forsyth Square. We will welcome special guest speaker Pam Vincent of River Edge Prevention Resource Center to tell us about a grant River Edge recently received to start a substance abuse coalition in Monroe County. Find out how you can get involved! Also, committees will report on recent planning meetings in the areas of Adult Education and Job Training, Youth Education and Development, Financial Literacy, and Health/Mental Health. Find out how you can get involved! Partners are welcome to come to the meeting room at Prime Palette as early as 11:30 to grab lunch from the great buffet! The King and I Auditions

The Backlot Players, Inc announce auditions for the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, The King and I. Auditions will be held on February 14 at 7 pm at The Rose Theater. Second Annual Adorable Reader Contest for Monroe Reads

Monroe Reads with Ferst participants are encouraged to join us for the Second Annual Adorable Reader Contest in March. Children from birth to age five enrolled in the program are invited to have their picture made by professional photographer Monica Clayton with their favorite book at NO charge next week. Readers may come Thursday, February 16 from 1 to 3 pm, Friday, February 17 from 3:30 - 5:30 pm or Saturday, February 18 from 10 am - 12noon. (Please call Shoppes on the Square 994-1028 or the Monroe Family Connection Office 994-7981 to let us know the time you choose.) We hope everyone will stop by Shoppes on the Square to vote for the readers March 9,10, and 11 during the Forsythia Festival! Visitors may view the adorable pictures and cast a ballot for their favorite for just a dollar a vote. Hello Yellow Forsythia Festival Kickoff

Kick off Forsythia Festival with a your own Hello Yellow decorations! Kick off the festival by painting the town yellow! Come by Dairy Queen at 200 North Lee Street on Saturday, February 18 from 11 AM-2 PM, get your car painted, purchase festival merchandise, and get forsythia wreaths and bows from Flowers By Helen to decorate your home and business. This event is sponsored by Castleberry Drug Company and Peggy Whyte will be on site painting cars. Peggy will be in town that following week painting windows and cars. Black Tie Gala at Hubbard

The Hubbard Alumni Association is hosting its 2012 Annual Black Tie Fundraising Gala Saturday, February 18, at 6 p.m. at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth. Tickets are $50 per person. The fundraising gala is to benefit the scholarships given to graduating Mary Persons seniors and to complete the restoration of our National Historic Hubbard Dormitory.

Pre-K Registration for Monroe County Schools
|
Pre-K registration for Monroe County Schools will be held March 8, 2012 for Hubbard Elementary, T.G. Scott Elementary, and K.B. Sutton Elementary, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Parents should register at the Board of Education's Auditorium at 25 Brooklyn Avenue in Forsyth. School districts will be determined at the time of registration. Parents must bring proof of their child's age and residency to complete registration. Placement is on a first come, first serve basis with completed registration. For more information, please contact Monroe County Board of Education at 478-994-2031 or download the flyer.
