Eggs and Issues   at GPSTC
It's Tax Season, Are you ready?

Join the Chamber and other members on January 11 from 7:30 to 9 am, to hear about new changes that can affect your business and what you can do to prepare yourself. Plan to find out what changes have occurred that could affect your business. Eggs and Issues in 2012 will meet monthly at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center unless specifically noted otherwise for special events.

 

School Holiday Camp at Brickyard at Riverside

Introducing the Brickyard Academy's 1-Day Kids' Camp! January 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.Not sure how your children will be spending their school holiday? Sign them up for a Fun-Filled Day at the Brickyard at Riverside!Campers ages 4 and up can enjoy a golf clinic, cooking class, arts and crafts, games and other activities. $25 per camper includes a day full of fun as well as provided breakfast and lunch! Trivia and Treats with Monroe Reads 
The Monroe Reads with Ferst Team will host a Trivia and Treats event on Saturday, January 21, at the Christ United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 7 to 9 pm. The event includes Trivia Night and Silent Auction. The Trivia Master for the evening is Pastor Dean Conkel. Tickets are $10. and may be purchased from any Community Action Team Member. They will have some fabulous items to bid on and yummy desserts will be served. Bring your friends and come join in the fun! All proceeds will provide free monthly books for all registered children from birth to age 5 in Monroe County, building literacy in our community. Read More... 

 

GA Chamber Business Action Network
Starting January 1, 2012, several new provisions of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011 will go into effect.  To help companies around our state abide by the new policies, the Georgia Chamber has compliled a summary of the upcoming changes. Monroe County Family Connection
You may have noticed that their webpage and e-newsletter look a little different these days!  They are continuing in their partnership between Monroe and Bibb County Family Connection by including both counties in their web and social media presence.  As many of their partners serve Monroe as well as Bibb County, readers and subscribers will benefit from the cross-county information and resources shared on their website. The logo representing the Monroe-Bibb partnership was made for them by Georgia Family Connection Partnership, which has expressed its support of the initiative.

Board of Commissioners meeting time changes
Please note on your calendars that the Monroe County Board of Commissioners have changed the time of their second meeting of the month. The third Tuesday meetings will now be held at 9 am, while the first Tuesday meetings will continue to meet at 6 pm.
 
Chamber Board Meeting Dates Change
Please note the the new date for the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting times have changed to the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4 pm, as noted on the Chamber events calendar.
 
Forsythia Festival entertainment applications are now available online
The Forsythia Festival has opened the applications for our community stage. This year's festival is going to be a wonderful treat, and we want you involved. If you have a performance group or a band and would like to perform on our community stage, please visit our website, www.forsythiafestival.com. Remember, our festival stage is reserved for community performers to showcase their talent, whether it is music, dance, etc. These performers are not compensated for their performance.
