Kareena LeeKarenna moves easily between jazz, blues, cabaret and pop. Her versatile style and extensive repertoire includes romantic ballads to latin favorites and broadway tunes. Her very entertaining and dynamic style are a welcome treat to a relaxing dinner on a Friday night. She is a must see!!

Even though Harry is a very good friend of the house he is very tough to book as his calendar is extremely busy!! A local mainstay since he moved here in 1985, this octogenarian is a seasoned vibraphonist whose long list of credits includes backing big jazz giants such as Billie Holiday and Benny Goodman. The New York Times referred to Harry as "a thoroughly original vibraphonist" and Jazz Times reviewed his CD Standards stating, "A major talent on Vibes ..... he has four-mallet technique to burn!" Pick a night and he's bound to be on stage somewhere in Houston - and tonight he is here at Mezzanotte!!

PRESS RELEASE - PIQUEO RESTAURANTE
Last week we sent the sneak preview of our "Video Press Release". This week we are publishing the final version (in High Definition). In it I explain our concept for Piqueo Restaurante and explain Peruvian Cuisine. I hope you like it:

SPECIALS AT PIQUEO
This week we have added two brand new specials and kept two of our last week specials.  We hope you have a chance to try them:

 

CONCHITAS A LA PARMESANA - $9
From the southern coast of Perú.  Two jumbo scallops flambeed in pisco, well seasoned and topped with parmesan cheese. Gratinated in the oven to medium rare. Just squeeze some lime juice and prepare for an experience!

 

GNOCCHI PIQUEO - $8
Our creation using purple and yellow potatoes. Exquisite pan seared potato dumplings accompanied with a beautiful white wine sauce and oyster mushrooms sautéed with our house made Salchicha de Huacho (sausage made with pork and our unique spices).

NY STRIP AL HUACATAY - $29 
10 ounce NY Strip grilled to medium rare perfection and topped with a Huacatay (black mint) sauce. Accompanied with spicy Salchicha de Huacho (beef, pork and rocoto chile sausage - made in-house) and potato gratin.
 
SNAPPER PIQUEO - $25
Another of our own creations: Fresh fillet of gulf snapper blackened with a mix of Mirasol, Panca and Guajillo dry peppers. Accompanied with pan seared wide ribbon pasta served over a delicate tomato and squid black ink sauce. Three little neck clams complete the dish.
 
CREME BRULEE DE LÚCUMA - $7
Lúcuma is a delicately flavored tropical fruit native to the cool highlands of Perú. We chose it to impart a unique flavor to our creme brûlée.
SPAIN: HERE WE COME!
It is hard to believe that our fourth Wine & Dine World Trip is already on the horizon. In 2009 we went to Tuscany (via Rome) in Italy, in 2010 we visited Mendoza (via Buenos Aires) in Argentina. And last year we went to Cuzco and Machu Pichu (via Lima) in Perú.
We are already in the initial stages of planning our 2012 tour and have several couples already signed up. The program starts on September 29 and ends on October 6, 2012. We will be traveling from Houston to Barcelona (where we will stay for a couple of days) and then we will hit the road en route to Rioja (the great wine region of Spain). The return will be via Madrid.
As usual we will have a very packed agenda doing nothing but tasting great wines, eating great food and enjoying the sights.

ROBIOLA EN BORSELLINO - $8

Deliciously savory imported Robiola cheese stuffed into a "purse" made with Italian mortadella. Delicately seared and served on top of spinach sauteed with pine nuts and golden raisins.

QUAGLIE AL TARTUFO - $24

Two partially deboned whole quails delicately seasoned with porcini mushroom powder; pan seared and topped with a marsala and white truffle sauce. Served over soft polenta

 

FETTUCINE CARBONNOTTE - $18

Our version of the classic Fettucine Carbonara: Hot cappicola diced small and sautéed with shallots and white wine. Completed with a creamy sauce of Gorgonzola cheese.
