WEBISODE 18 - MAKING ARROZ CHAUFA
Today I thought of showing you how to make Peruvian/Chinese Fried Rice; commonly known as ARROZ CHAUFA. This is a "typical" Peruvian dish which origins are, obviously, Chinese. I hope you enjoy it and have a chance to make it sometime:

INTRODUCTION TO PERUVIAN CUISINE
Since I showed you the Peruvian Fried Rice recipe and procedure (in Webisode 18 above) I thought it would be a good idea to also show you a great short video put together by the Culinary Institute of America. Just click on the link below:

(ALMOST) FREE WINE!
Yes!! I am not kidding. We brought back our series of "World Class Wines at Ridiculous Prices" with a pair of outstanding Italian wines. I hope you have a chance to try them before we run out:
CAPARZO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG '05 - Bottle $58
92 Points Wine Spectator; 92 Points Robert Parker: "surprisingly dark in profile for this bottling. A sweet, Pinot-like bouquet leads to perfumed black cherries, spices, licorice and tobacco. This mid-weight, graceful Brunello offers gorgeous balance, with an expressive core of fruit that flows through to a long, refined close. The 2005 is one of best versions of this wine I have tasted in some time... this is a very elegant Brunello."
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG Le Ragose '04 - Bottle $62
92 Points Robert Parker - From the Veneto region, this wine is made of 65% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and 5% local grapes. Extraordinarily powerful, intense wine of 14-16% alcohol with a concentrated black cherry jam fruit flavor, yet the wine is dry. Dense and super ripe, while still polished and harmonious, this Amarone finishes rich and dry with firm tannins. Pair with braised and grilled meats, and red sauce pasta dishes, or after dinner with chocolate or cheeses, especially from Italy. |

IN MEMORIAM
I was very sad to find out that two of our Mezzanotte friends recently passed away. They had been each others' friends for a long time and they left us within a month of each other. They are most likely enjoying some great Martinis right now!
We miss you Tom and Joe!
