His extensive repertoire of cool jazz includes great melodies from Grover Washington Jr., Stanley Turrentine, Kenny G and many others. His music mixes real well with good wine, food and company.

UPCOMING WINE DINNER

Next Tuesday 7/26 we will be having our semi-monthly wine dinner with our neighbor Urban Vine. At this dinner we will be sampling 5 great wines selected by Sara of Urban Vine and they will be matched with great food from our kitchen. Here is the menu for the night:

 

  • ANIME PINOT GRIGIO paired with ZUPPA DI PESCE BIANCO
  • SONOMA HILLS RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY CHARDONNAY paired with ARTISAN LETTUCE MEZZANOTTE
  • ISTRICIAIA SUPER TUSCAN paired with PENNE AL MELANZANO
  • OPOLO SUMMIT CREEK ZINFANDEL paired with FLANK STEAK WITH PANCA SAUCE
  • CHATEAU HAUT-BEAUSEJOUR BORDEAUX paired with FRENCH BRIE & CAMEMBERT CHEESES

On this evening we are matching the wines with foods from their regions. I hope you have a chance to try them.

NEW WINES ADDED TO OUR MENU

We are very excited to add several new wines to our portfolio of wines. They all are from Italy this week:

 

GERETTO PINOT GRIGIO IGT 2010 - BOTTLE $28

Pure straw color with golden reflections. Delicious citrus aromas merge with accents of minerals and florals to produce a bolder, richer version of this classic wine. The crisp fuller flavors are achieved by the longer contact with the skins during fermentation producing excellent balance and a snappy finish.

 

CA ED BALOS MOSCATO D'ASTI DOCG 2010 - BOTTLE $30

Great wine to serve well chilled, this sparkling sweet white wine has an intense nose of peaches, orange, elderberry and honey. It is a perfect aperitif, with cheese, as well as a fabulous dessert wine. It also has the benefit of a lower alcohol content of 5%.

 

CASCINA ADELAIDE BAROLO FOSSATI DOCG 2005 - BOTTLE $85

95 Wine Spectator, 91 Robert Parker

Offers plenty of spicy oak, with vanilla and clove, but also rich, concentrated cherry and raspberry underneath. Very elegant and supple overall, with a long, spicy aftertaste. All of the elements come together beautifully in this expressive, fruit-driven Barolo.

 

AMANTIS BIRBANERA MONTECUCCO ROSSO DOC 2007 - BOTTLE $32

Robert Parker: "Super high-density vineyards and tiny yields per plant form the cornerstones of the approach here. If these wines are any indication, Amantis has a very bright future." Wine Spectator: "This offers plenty of blueberry aromas, with hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, featuring fine tannins and a lightly jammy finish.

 

MOLINO DI SANT ANTIMO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG 2006 - BOTTLE $64

92 Wine Enthusiast. Vanilla, espresso and generous smoky mesquite tones. Sophisticated. Ruby red color, fruity and spicy bouquet, and the harmonious velvety taste, blend to make this wine so particularly elegant and persistent.

 

MONTEMERCURIO VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO "MESSAGGERO" DOCG 2007 - BOTTLE $48

Medium deep, mulled blackberries, round and rich palate, sweet black berried fruits, stewed and still with fresh core. Spiced black tea comes through mid palate. Rich and enveloping sweet fruits with ripe, lush tannins in a full body.

 

VIGNETI REALE "RUDIAE" PRIMITIVO DEL SALENTO IGT 2008 -

BOTTLE $32

Deep ruby red. Ample and persistent. Full bodied, warm and rich with plums, ripe black cherries and liquorice with fine tannins and good length.

SPECIALS OF THE WEEK
 

CARPACCIO DI TONNO - $7

Sushi grade tuna finely sliced and served raw with a small arugula salad. The salad is drizzled with fine balsamic reduction and the tuna with extra virgin olive oil.

 

INSALATA GRECA - $7

Tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, black olives, feta cheese, our vinaigrette...just a great summer salad.

 

FRITTO MISTO - $10

Shrimp, squid, and snapper breaded in our special mixture and flash fried. Served with lemon wedges.

 

CALAMARI SICILIANO - $18

Calamari delicately sauteed with capers, a bit of anchovies, tomatoes, garlic, black olives and served over linguini pasta. A bit spicy but you can request it very spicy or not spicy at all.

 

FILLETO MEZZANOTTE - $31

10 oz filet mignon delicately grilled to medium rare. Topped with our special sun dried tomato pesto and gorgonzola cheese. Served with choice of sauteed vegetables or pasta.

 

RED VELVET CAKE - $7

Our fantastic red velvet cake is always a great ending!

It looks like this special has been very well received so we will keep it as a standing feature on Thursdays. We have expanded our selections to more than just one as well as our wine selections. Of course we will continue tweaking it based on your feedback so please let us know what you think.
