ANNOUNCING - OUR NEW WEBSITE
Yes, our new website is live and online now.
I started searching for a development group that I could entrust the development of our new website back in late February. By mid March I had located a great development team out of Irvine, California. By late March I had the specs of the website completed and the team started writing the code. The first thing we needed to complete was the "look and feel" of the site based on my spec. Fortunately the team member working this part of the project was very talented and did exactly what I envisioned - the first review was so good that the concept was approved without many changes.

But that is where the easy part ends - now the team had to start writing all the behind the scenes code and developing a Content Management System that will allow me to make changes to the site at will.
So in April we took a little breather as we went to Peru on our yearly vacation. But upon returning we went back into the project in full force. It took all of May and the last few weeks of June to get the website to a point in which it can be put live on the Internet. Of course it is not finished yet as there are several functional kinks that need to be ironed out. But the site is live and you can view it at: www.mezzanotte.tv

I am still keeping our old site at www.mezzanotteristorante.com in the meantime but I am planning to phase it out completely very soon.
Please visit our new site and send me any comments, suggestions and constructive criticism. I would greatly appreciate it.

This is a website that is not only enhanced for web searching but a site that we can be proud of. You may notice that the design is optimized for Internet video which is a media we are planning to heavily use.

Thanks for your feedback,

Gerry

PLEASE VOTE FOR US!

There is a new online restaurant contest called Houston Entree Awards and we have been nominated in the Italian Casual category. I would argue that we belong in a different category but, what the heck. They probably figure that by being in Cypress we must be "casual" and not "fine". Doesn't matter. Please vote for us to help get our name and our cuisine out there. Here is the link:

HOUSTON ENTREE AWARDS

You will be able to vote for other restaurants in the process in categories that you may recognize (breakfast, Mexican, etc)

Thanks a lot for your support!!!

NEW WINES ADDED TO OUR LIST

This week we have added a number of new and exciting wines. Some by-the-glass and others by the bottle only:

DELSOL PICPOUL DE PINET - Glass $7

Languedoc, France

Made with 100% Picpoul de Pinet grape, it is a golden colored wine with green glints. The nose is fruity and floral with aromas of hawthorn and lime, the palate is lively, citrus and fresh with a harmonious acidity and roundness. Excellent as an aperitif and a perfect match for shellfish or fish dishes.

TEMPRANILLO, RIVAREY - Glass $7

Rioja, Spain

This is a Crianza, or young wine, that is meant to be enjoyed in its youth. It has a deep ruby color and aromas of black berry, cherry and citrus zest. This is a medium bodied wine with a modern style of fresh fruit, crisp acidity and smooth tannins. The flavors are dominated by raspberry, black plum, kiwi and holiday spice. There is no evidence of oak, but the smooth tannins are complimented by some marshmallow and black pepper. The finish is velvety and quite long.

GARNACHA, VINA BORGIA - Glass $7

Campo de Borja, Spain

Fresh bright red fruit balanced by a fine structure and ample boquet. Vina Borgia is made from 100% Grenache and is a fine example of this varietal. This wine is vinified with utmost care and bottled under the strict supervision of the winemaker.

CHARDONNAY, ROMBAUER '09 - Bottle $47

Napa, California

Rich and vibrant tropical fruit flavors blend with toasty oak notes. Peach, pear and a touch of pineapple integrate with creamy vanilla. This full-bodied wine has a velvety and lingering mouth feel. Our favorite pairing for this wine includes pasta with white sauces and/or vegetables, grilled fish and chicken.

CHARDONNAY, JORDAN '08 - Bottle $42

Russian River, California

Marked by understated elegance. Bright, straw-green colored hue. The clean freshness of the nose opens up with vivid fruit aromas of green apples, pears and peach, and a touch of quince and kiwi. On the palate, similar notes are evident: bright fruits braced by crisp acidity and a lingering minerality. The finish brings the fruit, balance and finesse of this wine full circle.

SYRAH, DURIUS '07 - Bottle $44

Castilla Y Leon, Spain

Very dark red packed with intense blackberry and plum fruit. Hints of spice due to aging in French oak. It is well balanced, well structured and has a lingering finish.

BAROLO, ELVIO COGNO CASCINA NUOVA '05 - Bottle $69

Piedmont, Italy

Born to satisfy the curiosity of consumers keen to have a more immediate understanding of Barolo, the wine is bright garnet red in color with orange tints. Pleasing and immediate, it offers scents of flowers and light, delicate spices. The bouquet is agreeably rounded, with just the right balance between pleasantness and elegance. The aftertaste is very harmonious with a long minerally aromatic finish. Pairs well with hearty meat dishes.

BAROLO, CA'BIANCA '06 - Bottle $69

Piedmont, Italy

91 points Wine Advocate; 90 points Wine Spectator.

"An attractive, mid-weight effort laced with dried cherries, flowers and licorice. This shows quite a bit of density on the palate, with terrific depth in the fruit that carries through to the long, powerful finish. This is a surprisingly rich style for La Morra, but very nicely done."

TINTA DE TORO NUMANTHIA TERMANTHIA '07 - Bottle $222

Toro, Spain

97 points Robert Parker; 94 points Stephen Tanzer; 93 points Wine Spectator.

Extremely rich and complex, the nose is showing a multitude of ripe red and black fruits (redcurrant, raspberries, cassis, blackberries) with notes of liquorice, truffle, balsamic and spices (cedar, nutmeg and black pepper), all perfectly integrated. The intense aromas evolve nicely in the glass, slowly opening up to more intense and complex notes. On the palate, Termanthia is an incredible expression of the Toro terroir. First the wine offers an impressively round, velvety and simply delicious mouth feel. Then the sensation of power and strength grows even more perfectly balanced with concentrated, firm and silky tannins, offering an experience of both weight and liveliness on the palate. The finish is extremely long and complex with a wide range of aromas, including dark fruits, chocolate, truffle, mineral and toasted notes.

FRENCH NIGHT - THURSDAY 6/30/11

I recently started tasting some great French wines and wanted to pass along the experience to you. So next Thursday evening (any time between 5:00 and 9:00 PM) come to Mezzanotte to try our petite Filleto au Poivre (6 Oz Fillet Mignon flambeed in Brandy and served with a cracked pepper sauce) along with Pommes Frites (or French Fries) for $18. The wine will be French also and the glass will be $5 on that evening.

Hope to see you then!

Cheers!
